Where Do I Start?

Where do I start?

This is my third year of blogging, but I only took part in the FLM once so far, in 2007. The experience was amazing, my time wasn't but I didn't do it for a time although a bit less than 8 hours would have been nice. Anyway, I haven't got through the ballot for 2009 so I get an extra year to train.

Despite my time and the pain from an ITB injury half way through I still rate April 22nd 2007 as one of the best days of my life, it really was that much fun, and that is why I am determined to do it again (plus I have a little matter of about 3 hours to lose from my time). I want to cross the finish line when there are still people around - in fact the 24 mile marker had already been dismantled by the time I got there!

For anyone who doesn't know, I am 44, diabetic and almost 20 stone. Let's see what we can do about that.

Where?

Where did my energy come from today? Refereed 90 minutes of football this morning, in both halves I covered just under 2 miles. Got home and had to pull up the carpet on the stairs and landing, it was glued down so about 3 hours later, after much...

Didn't do it again

Didn't really try to be honest. I had hoped that I could repeat Mondays run but in my mind I knew it would be hard and was ready to accept a walk break or two. Which is what happened. Ran the first mile and a bit. walked up some stairs to the top...

Oooh, oooh oooh

Gotta tell you this. Guess what I did tonight? Go on, have a guess. Try. Come on, you must be able to get it. <Sigh> OK... I'll tell you . I only went and ran round the block non stop! With no walks. All the way. Continuously. In one go. I ...

Not me

Nor Mrs K, nor Hannah. All our reject mags arrived today. Was expecting it as no money had gone out of the bank but never mind, it gives me another year to practice running. I meant to say practice, starting with a jog round the block tonight. ...

Knackered!

Despite the pouring rain we went up to Cove for our football match. For anyone who is thinking of taking up Sunday League management, DON'T! We have 25 registered players, today 6 turned up. We also had three turn up to spectate but they were all...

Had to try twice

I was going to do laps of the estate where Mitch was football training today but once I had started the rain came. I did half a mile (1 lap) in 5 mins then checked on him, that was when the training got called off so we came home. Spe...

Don't make excuses...

RUN! Well, I didn't run as such, but I did have a day decorating (which does take it out of you, all that bending and climbing ladders, and stretching when you get to the top!) then I had to take Mitch to a football party. Now, being a dad and be...

I hate waiting

Still no post from the London Marathon yet. I hate this suspense. No money has gone from our account so I doubt I am in but until I get the rejection mag there is still hope. Anyone remember this? Dear Philip Knowler,   Than...

10 min miles?

How do you guys keep that pace up for mile after mile after mile after mile? Or even faster than that? To me it's like sprinting. I'm sure, those of you who have been running for years find it quite easy, some of you who have only just come into ...

Nothing happening

Nothing of intrest anyway (is it int-e-rest, or intrest as I put it?). Did my 2½ mile run today, bit slower than usual but that was because I did the first half with baby sis. 1¼ in 16 mins, the rest in 14 mins. That's it, nothing else to tell yo...

Five and four

That's miles on the bike, then on foot. Cycled just over 2½ to football, ran just over 4 whilst being referree, then cycled home again. That's todays work out. It was blooming warm out there again so it must have done me some good, an...

Under a blood red sky

I heard a track from it on the radio yesterday and it brought back so many memories from my late teens/early 20's that I dug it out when I got home (got it on vinyl and CD). It's probably my second favourite album of all time, it's got so many cr...

Slacking already?

No, I have an excuse for not running today. I was going to, all set for it, but Mitchel shut his finger in the front door tonight. We have a heavy wooden front doo rand it can do some serious damage to wayward fingers so I had to pop to the walk ...

Liberated

No running today. I am not following any kind of plan. I'm just going to do a couple of miles whenever I feel like it, but at the same time make sure I run at least 4 times a week (I'll hope for 5). The reason I feel liberated is because I haven'...

OK, here we go...

...with the new motivated me. We'll start with a little reminiscing. Just over 2 years ago (one day over to be precise) I made my first ever blog entry. Little was I to know then that it would become an integral part of my life for so long. I said that,...

Didn't make it to NFH

I didn't even go. Training has been crap and bitty and I am suffering a severe lack of motivation at the moment. I still get out for a few miles a few times a week but I don't seem to be enjoying it as much as I was just over a year ago and do go...

Something stupid

Ever done something stupid, and thought to yourself whilst doing something stupid, that if you carry on doing something stupid you might get hurt because you didn't stop doing something stupid? Well tonight I did something stupid, and hurt myself doing...

Doubts

My knee is still swollen yet doesn't really hurt. As I've said, there is an ache but it's not tender to touch and running or walking doesn't seem to affect it. Despite this I am having doubts if it is right to carry on running on it as it's not g...

2 miles in UNDER 20mins

OH YES IT WAS! Sort of. Mitchel was football training so instead of standing around for an hour I took myself off round the local housing estate. It's half a mile round and takes me just over 5 mins to do a loop. At the end of every loop I ...

Bloody Kim Cotton!

Have you seen her blog? Cow! See what losing a bit of weight can do for you? If only it was that easy eh?  Football - went to footie training last night. I don't train anymore but I still run around a bit fetching footballs, coaching player...

Half distance today

That's more than I meant to do though. 3 miles in 35 minutes, still not the pace I want but as Ali asks, does it really matter? No it doesn't but I think everyone would like to, and thinks they can, run a little faster. 3 miles - only set o...

Blimey, I found that hard

Don't think I'll ever be able to finish a half marathon at this rate. 6 miles - and I struggled with it today. Took me 1hr 17 mins which is well over 12mm. And here's me hoping, unrealistically I know, but hoping, to do 10:30 all the way! I...

Yes I did it!

Flippin heck, you lot won't let me off will you? Yes I did it - I didn't do the 6 laps though as I  was abducted by a tribe of pygmy eskimos who wanted me to speak very stongly to a rogue kangaroo that was eating all their . After a stern l...

Three in three days?

Blogs that is, and I haven't even been out yet today. The reason for bloggin now is so I can state my intention to go for a run round the field later today, if i put it here I will feel duty bound to do it. So here it is. ...
