For those of you who are up North and planning to run as part of the Realbuzz group run on 8th September in aid of our nominated NASS charity Angus has put together a proposed route for a York run.
Looks like a great route with options to suit all abilities. So who is joining Ali and Angus?
The proposal is for those driving to York to park at the Marygate car park ( just off bootham ) and then walk to the Minster ( 5 mins ) to meet up at 10am ( time to be agreed )
The entire route is a half marathon that starts right outside the iconic York minster, takes in some scenic streets of York before heading along river paths, over the Millenium Bridge then out along footpaths and a very quiet B road for 5 miles to the village of Overton. The route is an out and back which finishes back in York at the Bay horse Pub right next to the Marygate car park.We could have a quick pit stop and a chat or even food and drink if anyone wants it.I tested out most of the route on Sunday and the city was nice and quiet at 10am so no congestion to worry about, there are quite a few shady stretches too which were nice in the heat.
The route is designed so that there is a 5k run and finish point next to the Marygate car park for anyone who only intends running a short distance. There will also be the opportunity to run 10k too ( or whatever distance you want ) and I can put out some orange distance markers in advance if that would be of use?
