Shoreham to Otford and back Saturday 1st June 2013

4.5 Miles

Remembered this walk quite well (once I had looked at the photo's again).

Drove about a bit to find the car park at first, then next priority (for the husband) was spending a penny.  Then off we went.

Could see a chalk Cross on the hillside on the opposite side of the valley.

Walked through Shoreham and fell in love with a house for sale (Priced outside our range and it was a bit of a 'doer upper' but I adored it).

Spent quite a bit of time in the Battle of Britain museum (Shoreham Aircraft Museum) (smelt oily - quite liked it) totally fascinating place, well worth a visit if you have anyone interested in wartime aircraft.

Once we hit the trail again (and passed through a couple of fields), we started to come across these strange pillars with the planets marked on them.

Apparently a millenium project of Otford.

Some lovely countryside and wonderful flowers. Buttercups and (I think) Germander Speedwells

Enjoyed a cream tea in a nice charity shop passing this interesting building on the way.

Think it wasn't as old as it looked.

Paid our respects in the local church (always enjoy having a rumage through a graveyard).

Then another stroll through the village back to the car.
