When I applied for the 2015 London Marathon, via the ballot system, I really did not expect to place, but I guess fate had another idea in store for me, while I continue to find a place in this world. Seeing as I got my place via a charity last year and had to raise £2,000 for said charity, I think that the emotions I go through with this marathon will be so different as there won't be the invisible bubble over my head about trying to raise so much money. Funding would become quite distracting after a while, when training. I can't believe I got a ballot place, especially when people try year after year to get a place.
I really don't know what to say or feel right now, so in the words of Taylor Swift, I feel happy, free and confused at the same time. I'm so happy that I have got a place. I cannot wait to start training and go through all those crazy emotions all over again for a second time.
To all the people who did not get a place, or have not received any news yet, I will be keeping my fingers crossed. Remember that all our journeys will be different, whether your on a mission to raise money for change or to inspire others. You are raising the bar for the future, so make a choice and make it count. And I will be seeing you all at the finish line.
