I have been a bit of a wus about trying carbo gels during my long runs - have heard lots of stories about people needing to dash to the loo etc.
But, having talked to the nice Lucozade man at the Meet the Experts session last weekend, and having been told how important it was to practise race-day food/drink, I decided to give it a go. And it was fine! I had 2 during my run today with no ill effects, yay! Am assuming it gave me a bit more energy but to be honest find it difficult to tell.
Now, the run itself. Hmmm. I did 12 miles today, so nearly half way!! It was the first one I've done that hurt by the end, so am a little worried about that - I will have to do over double that in 10 weeks. Yikes. 10 WEEKS PEOPLE!
My knee was really sore by the time I got home and am hoping it was a blip rather than the beginning of knee issues. Do you like my optimism?!! It's not feeling too bad now thankfully, although not sure I will be able to walk up the stairs tomorrow without an old lady style groan with every step, haha!!
