Training and .....singing
Posted on: 13 Apr 2008
Hello again
16 miles training run this morning. Took my time as still suffering with back pain but was happy with under 3 hours for that - not speedy but persistent.
Weather was lovely and I ran quite a chunk of the Great North Run route today.
Home (South Shields) to White Mare Pool and back (10 Miles) and then to the coast via town, past the end of the GNR along the coast, up the hill at Marsden (the last downhill bit of the GNR) and then home (a further 6 miles) - so 16 in all.
Did a couple of pit-stops on the way (loo ,refuel and refill water bottle) and back in time to watch some of the London Marathoners (hope to be there in 2009
!!)
So what's the singing bit? Well .....was running along singing (in my head mostly, though some of it out loud) as performing in a Sing Live concert at The Sage Gateshead on Saturday 19th - and had a rehearsal all afternoon.
How inspirational to be singing en route such diverse items as: 'We are the champions', 'Pinball Wizard', 'Zadok the Priest', 'Triumphal March' from Aida and many more.....can thoroughly recommend it.
Anyway - sank into my usual post-long run bath (Dead Sea Magic Bath salts and lavender aromatherapy oil ) and by mid-pm was ache free (mmmm....but will I be tomorrow??).
Rehearsing nearly all evenings this week, so fitting in training runs will be a challenge - guess I'll be on the pre-work shift
Anyway - have entered London marathon on-line ballot (?3rd time lucky?) - why am I such a masochist?
Good luck to everyone with their respective training - you all sound so fit out there.
More soon
