Good Pack run

Posted on: 20 Feb 2008

Six of us met up at the track tonight - Mark, Darren, Louise, Sandrine, Sara and me. The plan was for a good 6 ish mile run and as usual I made it up as we ran.

First mile was a bit too slow at 8:59 but it got us warmed up on a cold cold night!  We then picked up to 8:20 and 8:17 over the next couple of miles but Sara was dropping off a bit so we steadied to 8:32 and 8:37 through 5 miles.

Then we were in the home straight heading back to the track and Mark set off followed by Sandrine - guess which two aren't running a half marathon at weekend??

Louise, Darren and I kept together for a while with Sara now dropping off. Mile 6 picked up to 8:00 pace and I put in a burst on a gentle down hill to catch Sandrine, then eased right down to wait for Darren and Lou again. The three of us ran in together with Lou making a bid for a fast finish with 250m to go and I encouraged Darren to cover the break and we built up to a sprint for the last 100m.

Good run in 53:00 for 6.28 miles averaging 8:26 pace, with the last 0.28 run at 7:45 pace.  I must admit to finding this easy week frustrating in that I want to run and run, but I'm resisting and will do the track session tomorrow night before resting until Sunday's half.
