Steady track session

Posted on: 21 Feb 2008

Back on the track for my last session before the half marathon on Sunday and I took it steady.

Did my 2 mile warm up, feeling slightly heavy legged to be honest.  Tonight's session was a pyramid - 200m, 300m, 400m, 500m, 400m, 300m, 200m.  We had 100m jog recovery after the 200m and 300m and then 200m jog after the 400m and 500m.

For the first 200m I ran round in last place in 42s (5:30 pace).  Still in last for the 300m in 69s (6:01 pace) before picking up a bit on the 400m in 94s (5:58).  The 500m was not good in 2:05 back down at 6:29 pace.  On the downward section I got going with 400m in 96s (6:10 pace), then 300m in 62s (5:21 pace) and the final 200m in 38s (5:12).

The full session was 5.6 miles and that's me done until Sunday.  I'm looking forward to the half but all the usual negative thoughts have started.  At least I've done enough races to know to ignore them and also the little niggles that seem to appear just before race day!

Looking forward to meeting Judith for the first time and hopefully Pete E if he's there after his holiday!
