Are there any good half marathon plans out there which stretch over 6 months or so rather than the typical 8 weeks? Having just spent 8 weeks getting to 10k, which was quite a struggle, I don't feel confident that in another 8 I could manage a half marathon which I was originally aiming for. I would rather wait until spring and be more prepared. Do I need to come up with my own plan or are there some longer-term ones out there somewhere?

You are wise to takes things more steadily, especially if you found it was quite a squeeze fitting in your training for the 10k over just 8 weeks. You could join the Half Marathon Challenge here on realbuzz to access the 16-week training plan for beginners. This will provide you with week-by-week training instruction and enable you to train safely for your half marathon.

I have a place in the 2019 London Marathon and want to do it as I am 80 this December. I have never run before and have to admit I do not particularly like running but I am looking on it as a challenge. I have started week 3 of "Couch to 5k" programme and have completed 4 park runs with a PB of just over 41 mins(quite slow). I have read several training programmes etc. but would welcome your advice as to the best way to achieve my goal and stay really motivated. I also go to the gym a couple of times a week for body strengthening exercises. Many thanks.

I really struggle to get a regular pattern of breathing while I run, do you have any suggestions?
