What food should I take on the bike during a triathlon?
Energy gels are usually the best choice as they’re designed to give you calories quickly, they’re small so easy to pack onto your frame and they’re also very easily absorbed in the stomach.
I’d usually advise one gel every 30 minutes as a general rule, washed down with around 750ml of isotonic drink per hour. Many people do prefer to eat something solid though, it’s a personal preference but it has to be said that energy gels will always be more convenient.
