What type of aero helmet should I use?

That entirely depends on what the conditions are like and how your TT position is. The tail of an aero helmet is designed to fit into the gap between your head and your back. If you can’t hold your head in a position where the tail sits there then you lose the advantage of the helmet and then you may as well go for a non-tailed aero helmet.

It’s also worth considering what the race day temperature is like. If it’s too warm, it’s not pleasant to wear a full face aero helmet with a visor, and if you’re thinking about how uncomfortable you are as you’re riding then it’s likely that you’re losing concentration.
