Warming Up & Down

How long should I hold a stretch for?

Stretching is extremely important to maintain flexibility, mobility and also to help prevent injury so you should always stretch at the end of every workout. Hold each stretch for a minimum of 30 seconds because stretching for shorter periods of time will not provide lasting flexibility benefits.

Only stretch until the muscle becomes tight, never painful and always ensure that your breathing is relaxed, which will reduce tension in your body and enable you to stretch further. Avoid bouncing when stretching because you could overstretch and injure yourself, just move into the position and hold.
