Help, I've got a leaky bladder whilst running; what should I do?

Don’t worry, many women suffer from stress urinary incontinence and there’s no need to suffer in silence. Pregnancy, childbirth and simply aging often lead to a weakening of the pelvic muscles and running hard or running downhill increase the pressure on the bladder, which may cause some leaking.

Try to empty your bladder just before you head out of the door and wear a thin sanitary towel for additional protection. If you are running a long distance you may want to factor in a toilet stop en route. Many women find that using Pilates and exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles helpful too.
