Carrots and Gauntlets: This year I aim to get a sub 20 minute 5k, be that Parkrun or otherwise. I aim to get a 43minute 10K. At Half Marathon my pb is 1hr 35 so I would like to see that drop to 1hr 30.With the full Marathon, my target for Manchester next spring is sub 3hr 30. My target for Snowdon, this October, is sub 4. And at Chester a few weeks before Snowdon, the target is to get round without stopping!! I would also like to try my hand at a trail marathon or Ultra, I've signed up for Hadrian's Wall next June...

I have to say I was a bit shocked when I checked what day my 16 week training programme for Manchester begins... Next Monday!! There was me thinking I had most of December to gently work my way back to fitness before the hard work kicks in. I even thoug...
Hello all you wonderful buzzers. Well I see I haven't blogged since Snowdon, a few weeks of very little running followed. Not for any reason apart from work and life getting in the way, and feeling tired. I had my 5k challenge to keep me going till the...

The Snowdon Marathon has been growing in popularity over recent years, so much so that the first year I ran it, 3 years ago, it took five days to sell out; this...
Two weeks late, sorry. I started this blog then my computer packed up and had to be sent to the menders. Now it’s back to its former good health I will try to remember the race. I think you have been spared as the blog I was writing was getting very lon...
Anyone who knows me, knows I love Parkrun. Everything about it as an event, an organisation, an ethos, chimes completely with me and I don’t think I will ever grow tired of it. In Manchester we are so blessed, we regularly choose between five different ...

Hi folks,
I came on here yesterday, intending to write this blog about a run I did last week, but then I read Jim's blog, and the sad news in the comments from Hollywood Dave, as if that man hasn't had enough to go through recently, it was so cruel to l...
Hello there all you lovely real buzzers.
So it seems that one blog a month is about the norm for me at the moment. I guess it's a combination of things, the training is plodding along, the injuries are still niggling and have taken the joy out of runnin...
Three weeks ago the plan said 'Sunday, 17 mile run'. So I did the usual preparations; got up two hours before, made myself porridge, sorted out my running kit, asked Jenny to marry me...
And she said yes!!! So, SO happy, I love her very much and we are ...

Week eight of the 16 week training programme was always going to be the biggest week in terms of mileage with 38 miles planned. Add to this our core and weights work, plus ordinary life; first week of rehearsals for my new show down south, I had to bunc...
As ever I am so impressed with all the blogs on here this week, particularly the tales of dogged long runs last Saturday during some of the worst weather possible. SURELY we will reap the reward of all this hard work come April!!! Fingers crossed for ev...
