A recovered runner

I am a pretty amazing person. It's amazing I'm still alive after my horrendous accident in 2005. It's pretty amazing I am running the London Marathon this year. And it's pretty amazing that I'm raising money for the charity that helps people who have had similar accident, and similar brain injuries. http://www.justgiving.com/pamelamurphy1 So: this Blog will show how my training goes. I wonder if people will read it????

My first post-marathon run

Yeah, I know 2 weeks is a long time to take off. But I've had an awful *awful* cold. I went for a short run (<3 miles). And I confirmed my suspicion that, however constipated I am (when I *feel* like I need a dump, but can't go), running imm...

I ran the London Marathon!

I ran the London Marathon! OK, so it hurt like hell and I finished in 6h45, which when you compare it to my Robin Hood Marathon back in 2003 (5h50, on a nice sunny day, not rain and hail like there was today), especially bearing in mind the 'fu...

Oh wow

I just did another sub-10-minute-miler The same route again, and 9.5 minute miles. And this time I wasn't pushing trying to go as fast as I could. Dunno how fast I'll go on Sunday though. My plan is to just make it round!

I'm now *even* faster!

OK, so I've done very little running lately, but tonight I did my 2.88 mile run into town, and I did it the fastest by far I've managed. 9.33 minute miles. I've managed a couple of 19s un the last few weeks, but nothing this fast. I'm expo-ing tom...

And again!

I did a short run at work, that was 11min miles. Slow for normal people, but fast for me! And my marathon sponsorship is now over £3000!!! (Hubby posted a request to people at work, and people I've never met have given loads. Shame my colleagu...

Slow for everyone else, but p...

I just did a short run at lunchtime, but the speed was 12 minutes/mile - slow for normal people, but quite fast for slow old me. I don't know why I'm slow now though. OK, so I'm 'blind' and disabled, but not enough to slow me down so much!

:-) :-)

Woo. I just ran the 7 Hills Road (6.5 miles) the fastest by far I have done it yet It was still over 12 min/mile, but it was so much better than normal for that route Add that together with how much faster I've been just lately, and I'm so impressed ...

I'm really going faster! (But...

I just did my run into town again, and although I wasn't quite as fast as the other day, it took just over 10 minutes/mile That's so much faster than I was doing a few months ago. I might do this marathon a wee bit faster than the Robin Hood in ...

:-) :-)

I did the 2.88 mile run again early this morning, and it was bang on 10 minutes/mile :-) Only my 2nd fastest (since the accident!) That translates to a 4 1/2 hour marathon, but I'm not silly enough to think I can manage 26.2 miles as ...

Woo hoo!

I just ran 4.3 hilly miles, and I did it by 5 minutes faster than I ever have before. OK, so I'm still only doing 11 minute miles, but for me that's fast, and would translate to a marathon time of a little over 5 hours. So I guess I won't be the last (e...

Oh dear oh dear

I doubt many people want to know this (I'm not even sure I should talk about it...) I just don't understand. Yet again, I went out for a run, but had to stop and walk home, because I was desperate for a dump. And even worse, I still feel desperate....

:-) Getting faster on long ru...

Did an almost 16 miler today, and the long loop that began it (11+ miles) was the fastest I have done it If I can run the whole marathon that fast, I will do it in less than 6 hours

My fastest! :-)

Oh wow! I just did my Walton run, the fastest ever Less than 10 minutes/mile 2.88 miles

Not been very good at bloggin...

... but my running is going fine! I did a short run at lunchtime today, and my legs felt fie, considering that I ran nearly 20 miles on Saturday And my sponsorship is now well over £1900 To think I worried I'd never reach the £1400 I need...

That was fine!

I managed 11.5 miles today, at just under 14 minutes a mile (slow for normal people, but not bad for diabled blind old me!). I was faster than last week, but slower than the week before (but only just!). I feel a lot happier than I did this morning. I a...

Oh dear. My 'training' has be...

oK, this is a bit of a silly blog, but... I'm going to run tomorrow. Honest! That'll be the first run since Saturday (17+ miles...). It's just been a very difficult week to find any time to run. But, I promise: 11 tomorrow, and 20 (eee...

Maybe this marathon is a sill...

Oh dear. I went for a long run (aiming for 18 miles, but it turned out 17.6. Close enough). I have felt worried about my slow pace (14 min/mile), but today was much slower, and it hurt like hell. Overall it was 15.5 minutes a mile, but the la...

A horrible day

A horrible long run (with a great early part). I was planning on 16+ miles... The first 11.x miles were faster than I've managed for long runs lately (Under 14 min / mile Slow for 'normal' people, but fast for disabled old me!) But ...

I did a 10k race, and I wasn'...

This morning I did the Valentines 10k race nearby. I wasn't last! Not by a long way! I admit though, I was definitely amongst the last few. Time 1h10 (I forgot to press stop on my stopwatch, so I don't know the exact time :-( I...

Should I be embarassed to run?

Today I went for a long run (15+ miles - eek!). My legs hurt now. The time (14 minutes a mile) was faster than my recent long runs. But it's slower than the 8.2 Kingston race I did in 2006. Why? I know I'm slower than I was before my accident (OK, I'm ...

A long run, but OUCH!

I ran just over 15 miles today (still at my slow 14+ minutes/mile). It was very hard work. As I was running, I thought 'I thought I would try for lottery LM places, and I guess I'd get another go within 5 years', but as I ran today I thought 'Ouch! OK, ...

I'm famous!

I ran 5.8 miles today, from home to work. And I got lost! I've often (recently, since my accident!) run from work to home. But this was the first time I've gone from home to work. And as I ran up a road close to work, I thought 'Where the hell am I???'....

Publicity on its way! :-)

I went for a run at lunchtime, and I wanted it to be into Richmond Park, but I couldn't find the right way in, and then I got horribly horribly lost on the way home. I had no idea where I was  And I've found out that payday is early this month (it'...

Yeuch! I hate my backside!

Today I did 5.5 miles, almost the fastest I've done it yet. It's a really nice route, by the river. But I planned to go for a longer run (15 miles) this morning, but had to turn around. Running seems to make me desperate to go for a dump, and the two pu...
