No more talking about it.....London 2016!
I recently read that keeping a diary or blog of some nature can keep you thinking positively and motivated…….
This is probably the biggest task I have ever put myself through both physically and mentally, I will take all the help I can…..
It will be interesting to read over it after the event.....see if I am still feeling as positive!
Here goes!
First task - Registered with a charity, tick!
Secondly - get the old trainers out from the back of the wardrobe – tick
Cripes, that's it, here we go!

Oh my word, I did it, I ran the London Marathon!
What an experience, some of it etched on my memory forever, some of it a blur.
I think I may have been the most excitable person at Greenwich on Sunday, I was bouncing about like a mad man, I'm not a co...
It’s here, the week I have been thinking about for almost 4 months. Marathon week…I feel a kid again, waiting for Christmas Day to arrive!!!
It hasn’t been without its roller coaster of emotions this week mind. I started with excitement, that turned to ...
So where did the last three months go, I have only just started my training haven't I, wasn't Christmas just last week. Here we are, April, marathon month. It's a funny feeling for me, first time marathon runner, it's a complete mix of nerves, excitemen...
So I am sat here, a wet miserable Saturday afternoon, basking in the glory that I, Miss Helen Walker, novice marathon runner has clocked up a massive, humongous, 22 mile run yesterday.
I picked an absolute belter of a day for it, the sun was out, the b...
In my bid to “mix” things up a little, I have joined my local gym. I figure I need to attend a few HIT classes, which I really enjoy, so as not to get “bored” with running 100% so far so good.
I had a fitness MOT, I am deemed to be fit – phew!
So ye...
After my "disaster" of a run last week, I was a little nervous about getting out and doing my long run this week. However, I decided I need to start with a new understanding of what happened last week. Thanks to all of the real buzzer's and their amazin...
So, I have had a bad run, again….my second so far in my training for the London marathon. Today was an 18 miler, last week was 16 and I did really well and took 20 odd minutes of my best half marathon time. Last week I was elated.
This week…I cried, i...
So I have changed my training plan slightly after a few conversations with some fellow marathon runners and have no incorporated hill running into my training....
.....ouch!
So today I headed out, all my training plan said was run a hill 9 times, s...
What a week, what improvements!
So I am continuing to meet with the Nike Run Club every Saturday morning and it is working wonders. I don't know why but running with a group makes me run the entire way and run faster than I ever do alone.
This wee...
Hurray, a good run at the weekend has put me on track!
After my bad week, my hit the wall week, I have to admit I was really nervous about a 15 miles run on Saturday. After talking to my buddy (aka inspiration) she told me about a Nike running club t...
So it's been ages, but I now (at training mile 16) can see why this blog lark works.
So I went for a 14 mile run last week and this was the first time ever that I truly realised what "hitting the wall" actually meant. I hit a massive, hard, brick wall ...
How quickly do the weeks fly by! I am in week 3 of my training already! How did that happen?
So this week I kick off with a 5 mile run, yet I am still sat here, rather than running I am tryping my blog, hoping to magically generate some motivation from...
So I am out of the starting blocks and underway!
I did the Richmond 10k last weekend, I had roped my boyfriend to run it as well as I was secretly hoped he would run it, feel amazing, discover the love of running and then want to sign up to the marat...
