Training updates & London Marathon withdraw.
First of all a very happy new year all the best for 2015.first of all after much careful consideration i haave decided to pull out of the London Marathon 2015.This would have been a enormous undertaking and with fund raising and training togther it would have taken all the enjoyment away from training as i would have been having to fully focus on the fund raising and that would have taking over the training.Everyone of us is going through difficult financial tmes at the moment and i feel it would be really difficult to meet the minimum pledge needed which was £1,800 of which £200 had to be paid up in a months time.I cannot put myself through the stress of worrying if i can meet that target or not and if i do not then the responsibility of finding that short fall would have to come out of my own funds, and that is something i am not prepared to risk. Its such a shame that i had to pull from running the London Marathon for such a good charity but if i had more time then i would have done lots of chairty events but between now and the London Marathon i feel that time is not enough and also at the current level fitness i am at,i will need to increase my training a lot more,i do not want to put my health under that stress and suffering from anxiety and depression it would create more problems.I have sent Clic Sargent a email and i have said i be more than happy to raise funds for them but on a smaller scale and maaybe using another event. think all charity pledges should be on a as best effort. I know there are costs but u shouldn't have to make up a short fall.
Training updates.
So after a few months injury of runner's knee and being diagnose with chronic tendinitis, back in full swing of training : ) On Boxing i was brave enough to open the front
door and go for a run.I was so pleased because the weather conditions was not perfect by any means, cold, raining and muddy.I did 4.75 miles in 58:52.
On Decemeber 28th 2014,i wanted to break 5 miles and i did 5.75 in 1:09:01 well pass the barrier.
January 1st 2015 and the start of the new year i wanted to break 6 miles and i did 6.05 miles in 1:11:59 the quickest ever time since the Shepton 10k when i did 1:36:50,so my level of fitness is coming back,i am still stopping and walking but have cut my times down to the amount of stopping i am doing.
Race plans for 2015
I am training for my very first half marathon the Yeovil half marathon to take place on March 29th 2014.My last ever half marathon was the Bournemouth Bay half 1995,so this is all new territory again as i do not know how i will get on.I have now created a half marathon plan and the most important aim is my long runs,i will have to before the race have covered at least 13 miles in training so i can run the whole course without discomfort.
Between now and the race i am working on a smaller race to see what i will run like,i am looking at a 5k or 10k.
After the half my next goal is the Great South Run 2015 and a goal to get under 2 hours.
