Kneesy does it - Back into training !

After stumbling across Realbuzz.com a couple of years ago I have blogged my way through one or two 10 KM races, a handful of half marathons, the hellrunner, the Luton Marathon and to date one of my proudest sporting moments crossing the finish line of the London Marathon this year.

Throw into that the ups, downs and injuries I seem to pick up at will, while playing for my beloved rugby team Carrington RUFC of which I am Skipper and there you have the ingrediants for a Realbuzz Blog - If only I would keep updating it !

Mission Accomplished

Tonight ... 10 km in under 50 minutes, weight under 90 kg. Tough going tonight, had to work so hard mentally to keep going as mile 4 and 5 felt like I was running through knee deep mud. Dragged it out during the last mile and finished with a big smile a...

The thrill of the chase !

Took part in my first proper race in I don't know how long on Sunday - The Birchwood 10 KM. All the races I can remember this year seem to have been with someone and not going at it hell for leather. I forgot how exciting proper racing was ! Excellent r...

No sympathy required !

Another month gone by without blogging. I do read all the posts but find it tough to comment if I'm not blogging myself. I feel a bit of a fraud in some ways with not training regularly and consistantly. Don't really want to leave posts on here that are...

Another week bites the dust ...

Mixed bag this week. Couldn't be bothered Monday and busy all day tomorrow so knew I was in for a five day stretch of running to squeeze things in. Easy four miles Tuesday and Wednesday. Five on Thursday and another another three last night. Long run to...

Week Five, been and gone

Saturday night and I'm sat having a couple of well earned ciders and a good weeks running. Tempo run Tuesday although didn't really feel like it. Battled on mind over body and was happy to end up finishing with 4 sub 8 minute miles during the threshold ...

Week Five ....

First off - great day yesterday at the C of M with some brilliant times being posted and a couple of PBs for good measure. Also managed to get some great pictures 'Mad Mick' has got to be my fave ! So the plan continues into week five hich sees an extra...

Another week down ...

My running seems to be contiuing in fine form of late. On Thirsday I had a five mile easy run on the plan. I decided to split it into two parts. The first 3 miles on road then pick up Jake for the remaining 2 miles on the trail. After setting off I felt...

Week 4, onwards .....

Planned to have a rest day Monday but couldn't resist the lure of a run. Slotted in a nice steady four miler. Was pretty spent after and felt in need of a good rest day which was exactly what I did yesterday! Today I just had a half day at work so manag...

Week Three, Done and Dusted !

All over for another week. Got myself out at half seven for the nine mile long run. No problems to report on my behalf, had a bowl of pasta two hours before the run and felt like I had endless ammounts of energy. GMan didn't fair so well though. I alway...

Wise Up and get hardcore !

An absolutely fantastic run tonight with my RB Jake, DD, his lad Jack and his pair of crazy hounds ! Five miles was the plan so it was all round to mine for the trail run. I felt like crap for the first half mile then realised we were meant to be just r...

Week Three, Day Two !

Finished work a little early, on a course in Chorlton. Somehow my running kit had found its way into my car this morning so took the opportunity to hit the the Water Park and Mersey for a few miles. Planed on a mile warm up, three miles threshold and a ...

Week Three, Day One.

Had a nice rest day yesterday, besides I was far too tired after the weekend to even contemplate running. The plan was for a 5 mile easy run tonight but the legs wanted different. Set off for three miles on the road at what I felt was 60% effort. Manage...

Week Two, Complete !

I've missed a post but not the run. Got up early again (just) on Friday morning for my 5 mile easy run with Jake. It felt tough but not uncomfortable. I just don't think I'm a morning runner ! Very busy weekend. Out Friday night for a works leaving do. ...

Week Two, Day Two

Today saw my first speed session of the training plan. A five mile run with 2 x 1600 metres efforts. Speed sassions are by far my least favourite runs as lets face it, they aren't particularly pleasant ! The only good thing about this run was that it st...

Week Two, Day One

Today the plan was for a five mile easy run. As you may or may not know there is farm land and trails behind my house. This normally makes for a 3 mile run without doing the same trail twice or 4 miles if I run up and around 'Halfway Hill' Twice. I was ...

The Genesis Appeal 10 KM Walk

A fantastic day for such a worthwhile cause. Carrington Rugby Club turned up on time with numbers to spare today which make a change ! It was a real family affair with a great party atmosphere. I have been busy working alongside the charity to get some ...

Met up with Dangerous Duncs and his crazy dogs after work for a scheduled four mile easy run. Not been out with DD for a while so we had a good chat enjoying the pleasant scenary of the River Mersey. The paths along the banks are all getting dug up and ...

It was a do I don't I, Can I really be bothered this morning. I got up out of bed at 5:45 after deciding to go for a run before work last night. I then got back in bed thinking that I really didn't fancy it. Fortunately my concience got the better of me...

Week one, Day One !

In order to follow a plan and get myself motivated, I have commenced a half marathon training plan. This way I've got something to focuss on without the training being too much or interfering with anything. Four days a week - you know the routine, easy,...

Back to it !

Long time no blog ! It's been a while folks, there has been some ups, some downs and some mediocre inbetweens ! On the up side was Simon's Day, the GMR, The Genesis Breast Cancer appeal, A PR company hounding me, being in the newspaper a couple of times...

One step forward ......

On the Up !

Another slight milage increase for me this week which is fantastic an a real confidence booster. Managed another steady two miles on Thursday and pressed on to 2.5 on Saturday morning. Pain really seems to be settling down when running now although corn...

Rugby training - sort of

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement. Saw physio yesterday. She has shown me more strenuous exercises to do - some nice, some not so nice to do comfort wise. Apparently repitition is the key so trying to do them at every spoare moment of stan...
