If you want something you have never had..................
EVERY DAY YOU DON'T DO YOUR TRAINING PROPERLY IS AN IF ONLY DAY
Strokeman to Marathonman
In 2004 aged 42, I had a Stroke which left me unable to walk for several days and changed my life forever. After several months recovering, I found running. Numerous 10k's and several Half Marathons followed and in April 2007 I completed the London Marathon in 4 hours 28 minutes and proved to myself and others that there was 'Life after Stroke'. I raised £5,000 for Stroke charities in the process.
Further marathons followed in 2008 (Edinburgh 4.35), London in 2010 (4.20), Rotterdam (4.04 PB) & Mablethorpe (4.54 PW!) in 2011 (A PB & a PW in the same bloody year!) and finally Hull 4.28 in 2012.
Unfortunately my left knee is now riddled with Arthritis and my right achilles is not a happy bunny either. I probably should not even be considering another Marathon - but sod it you only live once?
It is either get fit again or the "Road to Perdition" This is Ruddy's last marathon stand.
My wife and 3 kids are and always will be my motivation.
