Here we go again!

So here I am again, already 3 weeks into training for the London marathon 2017! Amazingly, this time, after many years of trying, I managed to get a ballot place - don't know how that happened! I ran with a charity place in 2013 and have been determined to run it again ever since. This time, I can raised money in a more relaxed way, rather than under pressure to raise a minimum amount. So, so far training is sort of going to plan. I am probably a week behind where I would like to be, but trying to catch up. I hope to be back to where I should be by next week. When I did the marathon in 2013, I realised, that although I stuck to a training plan, I probably didn't do enough overall miles per week - I ran every other day with a long run once a week. This time, I am running 5 days a week with a long run and then a rest day. I am, by no means a fast runner - more of a plodder really, but I would really love to be able to do the marathon in under 5 hours. Well, we will have to see!

Running sane

Hills and more hills!

Wet and Wild!!

Wow that was a wet and wild run last night -nearly got blown off my feet! 'Do you really want to go out in this?' asked my daughter - 'well, yes - I need to'. My view is that come 23rd April, who knows what the weather will be like, so it's good to get ...

Not Competitive?

I have never really viewed myself as being competitive. Generally, I am happy to go for a run and let others run past me  - I usually give myself the excuse that they are much younger, fitter and perhaps are only out for a much shorter run than I am hah...

More miles

Three weeks in and I am trying to catch up on some lost training. Went out for an 8 mile run today, which I actually enjoyed! It was cool, but dry and the sun was shining - so perfect running weather. I had planned a bit of a cross country run, but once...
