The Secret Life of a Runny Mummy
This blog will follow my attempts to regain my fitness. I ran the VLM in 2010 and soon after happily found out we were expecting our third baby, who was born on 10th March 2011. Unlike Paula, I found keeping running through the pregnancy very hard and stopped at 8 weeks due to morning sickness and fatigue. So here I am, back at square one, and itching to get going. I have some wild aspirations of running another marathon in 2012. It could be a long and interesting journey ....

Strange things have been happening to me recently. I have lost my mojo for running and I am not sure why. I am beginning to think Portsmouth might be a mistake. I will make myself go and run it, if just for 'fun'. I have no appetite for speedwork or...
Thank you lovely people for the comments on my last blog, they really cheered me up no end. Training for marathons is not only time consuming physically, but also mentally. I tend to eat, drink and sleep the marathon I am training for, so it was stran...
I have just been reading back over some of my blogs and I've noticed a theme. Before every race I bemoan about how unprepared I feel! I have always, in all parts of my life, suffered with lack of confidence. Reading those posts I feel a bit embarra...
I've been slowly increasing my mileage and have fallen in love with off road running again. I've been running with the club more regularly and have got some nice long runs under my belt now. The ankle seems to be behaving for now so I have entered the...
Once again my blog has been neglected. Probably because I was sulking as I always do when injured.
Casting my mind back to June I was getting ready for the Cheltenham Circular, which I did last year too. I was getting some off road training runs und...
Better late than never, it's time I recounted the tale of the 100 mile bike ride..
Firstly I am not a very confident cyclist and was starting to feel a tad nervy as the day approached, especially as I had only done 41 miles as my longest training ride, ...
Last Sunday I ran the Tewkesbury Half. As I mentioned before it was more than just a race. A member of our Running Club has run this race for the last 11 years and was not going to let a small inconvenience like recovering from intensive chemotherapy ...
I am a little late with this blog I know, but I have been without my laptop which needed debugging (my husband is to blame for this one, downloading something wierd!).
Stratford seems a long time ago now, well two weeks yesterday to be precise. My wi...
I know I haven't got my current challenge out of the way yet, but more tempting things to do are appearing thick and fast! It's all quite exciting.
At the moment the tapering is going well. A few little runs here and there, some at marathon pace, some...
Daft as it is, and I really should learn to let go of things, I still feel a slight amount of panic over the training I have missed. The two weeks of being unwell meant I have missed some important interval and hill sessions and one 20 mile run. In th...
In the last few weeks I have raced twice, one half marathon and one cross country 14 miler. How different can two races be?
I will tell you.... I have been keen to get a half marathon under my belt in preparation for Stratford Marathon. In preparatio...
I am trying my best to stick to the plan at the moment despite some incidents, school holidays and crises of confidence.
After my last blog I really had a mental battle facing my first 20 mile run of the plan. I don't know why I just couldn't get my ...
Yum yum, I am eating up the miles at the moment and it is a good feeling. 37 miles the week before last and just short of 45 miles this week. Nearly up to 200 for the year. I hope this won't bring me bad luck but I am feeling good at the moment. I ju...
Just in case anyone who's not on Facebook thinks I have shuffled off this mortal coil after my last post, I haven't.. I am still here and running, whoopee!
After a few trips to the docs and two more opinions on my ECG I was given the go ahead to run a...
Oh dear, I am very good at being in denial. This time I have managed it big style and now have some consequences to deal with. There is no point being maudlin or letting things get me down as at the moment I have no idea what those consequences are. It'...
I survived, but it was one of the hardest races I have ever run. And yes I did race it, despite thinking I would just get round!
Just to rewind a bit, I wasn't feeling particularly well prepared and certainly felt a lack of serious hill training. As in...
I hope! Once again it's been a while since I have blogged. Can someone please tell me where all the time is going ...it'll be Christmas soon!
A quick recap, we had a lovely break in France and I DID NOT RUN!! <well I did have a little jog but we w...
That's the sign that's been up on my door for the last two weeks. Olympic watching has been my new hobby despite protests from the children that their mother is neglecting them. I prefer to think of it as a lesson in independence. It seems they have v...
Even though I have neglected mine and other people's blogs over the last few/many months(delete as appropriate) lots of you have posted lovely messages on my blog. It's like I've never been away :-) So I like it here, and I am getting back to commenti...
Oooh look at that I am blogging again, I don't know what has got over me!
It's been a funny week, I still feel tired from the Cheltenham Circular which I don't suppose should surprise me as I was running for the best part of 5 and a half hours. But I ...
..... for my first blog post in 8 months! Hmm well I lost my way a bit. My laptop died, then we moved house. And the longer you go without posting the harder it is to get back to it. Add to that, the fact I really didn't have that much of interest t...
Well goodness me time does fly and I am thoroughly ashamed to see that my blog has been totally neglected since 4th July - bad bad me!
Sooooo what's been going on, well a quick update:-
Firstly my plaster came off and I spent the next few days wandering...
The frustration is now starting to get the better of me I’m afraid. I could chew my own arm off, chomp chomp!
Only a week to go before I get this plaster off and hopefully a run will be in order the next day. It’s not just the lack of outdoor exercise...
It’s two weeks now since my slip up. Things seem to going okay, the arm is less painful so I can now pick Luke up without too much difficulty, and do all the things I need to do. Except drive, which is a bit frustrating.
And run of course, that would ...
