Lucinda does London

This blog is just a bit of fun to keep people up to date with my marathon training.

The story so far... Quietly training for the Edinburgh Marathon, when an opportunity came up to run London. The gent who was running for the London Sports Forum for Disabled People unfortunately could no longer run due to injury. So 1 month earlier than planned i'm going to try to run London.

Now I'm excited!

Nervous but, excited. Which is healthy. Just need to focus on the prize, and the pint. Over the last few days I am getting really thirsty for a pint. I've promised myself I'll stay off the drink until after the race but, last week and all that but, I re...

pre-race nerves. All the pros...

Now is the time when I need to start stock piling happy thoughts, generating my own motivational mantras and relaxing. But, for some reason I can’t get past the overwhelming anxiety. I’m worrying about my rib, ankles whether I can keep it up. I don’t fe...

To run or not to run

I'm getting frustrated at my training ups and downs. I wanted to run this morning but, thought better of it. I went instead to the gym and did 30mins on the cross trainer. Thankfully this did not hurt my ankle. But it's not enough. That said my ankle fe...

3 steps forward 1 step back

Well after my monster run on Sunday, I was wreaked. I took Monday and Tuesday off as rest, my left thigh was still aching. Wednesday I hit the tarmac and headed out for a nice slow 7miles. Well my thigh was hurting and it was affecting my knee and by 5m...

Lucinda time and Edinburgh hills

Then the clocks changing turned in to a nightmare. I put my mobile forward 1 hour, set an alarm for 5am to have breakfast and 8am to get up for my run. I had cereal at the 5am alarm and got up and the 8am alarm. I got in to my kit and as I went to put o...

Home comforts

In January the marathon seemed like an age away, and yet not quite far enough away. It is now the end of March and there is only 4 weeks to go. The reckoning when all my effort in training will be put to the test. The most important thing now is to ensu...

Macho Man

I had a fantastic run yesterday. I put together a new playlist for the nano including classics such as Macho Man, Eye of the Tiger, Don't stop me now.. It was brilliant. I was powering down the road (as best one can with a cold), wheezing but, feeling a...

The mind is a wonderful thing

I forgot to mention in my last post that my left ankle is sore. It was uncomfortably sore for much of my 19mile run and I have no idea what is wrong with it! I think it may be internal bruising, i may have gone over it at some point. Anyway at the time ...

Cold

Getting back to London hasn't been the runfest I imagined. I managed one good week of running, then I got a cold. This week I cut down my running in an effort to recover. I can't honestly say it has made much difference. I ran 6 miles Wed, and 3 miles F...

back to London

So first week back at work and first week back running around London. Before I left for Australia the milage had been relatively small and I saved my fav city run for a Thursday. Now I'm back and the milage has increased I run my fav city run nearly eve...

don't run on empty

Arrived back in London on Saturday. I was devistated that my feet had swollen up like little pies. Spent the day just trying to get the swelling down. Sunday I prepared for my long run, I had no gels or energy drink left so I went out on half an apple a...

Australia

I've been in Australia for the last 2 weeks. It's nice to be running in the sunlight and warmth of Melbourne. Having new places to run and see has kept me motivated. The one thing that has brought me down is not being able to join in all the late night ...
