The Road To Nottingham

April 2011. One year since VLM 2010, my greatest running achievement, completing London in 4:28:30. That was good, but has left unfinished business!

The summer only had one 10k in it, the Askern 10k done in sub 50, post marathon legs, and lots of plodding during VLM training knocking a couple of minutes off my previous attempt at the race 3 years earlier.

The GNR followed in 2010, poor time, my only Half over 2 hours, and a bad day at the office, put right shortly afterwards with a 1:54 at the Brid Half. A 10k in Leeds finished 2010, a 47:55 being 5 seconds away from a PB. So not a bad year, and over 1000 miles racked up.

2011 has started dreadfully. I lost my mojo, had a few weeks off whilst on holiday at Disneyworld in Florida with the wife and kids, and came back refreshed and ready to hit the running hard. I signed up for Nottingham on 11th Sept 2011 and the journey starts here (well there is a bit more, but I will blog about it below.....)

Another month, another blog!!

I do actually have a couple of excuses for why it has taken over 2 weeks to blog again. Firstly I have been on holiday for 8 days to Lanzarote. Secondly, I have been quite ill, so have hardly run, so haven't actually had much to blog about!! It all star...

Long Time No See

It is fair to say that running is still a big part of my life, but has been on the back burner as a major challenge recently. Since my last post on 26th June (which has surprised me, didn't realise it was quite that long!!), I got ill for a fortnight, w...

Running, I remember it well!

First of all apologies, life has taken over a bit for the past 10 days, I will catch up as the next few days progress with comments and blog posts. I mark exams for an Accountancy body, so twice a year I get a nice task of marking 350 exams (you can do ...

Busy busy busy

One week since last blog post. Days at work since: 5 Meetings for voluntary roles I undertake: 4 Evenings going through an exam I am about mark papers 350 for: 3 Nights of uninterrupted sleep: 2 Runs: 3 - all of good quality, but the quantity is poor! S...

Oh I say!

..looks like I have a bit of task on, finding my way around. From what I can tell, All Blogs under the Blogs section seems to bring everyone up. Could take some keeping up with though!! So although I am a week and a half behind on comments, I may just g...

Still on Page 1?

That is page 1 of the General Running Blogs. It seems ages since I last blogged, it was actually 4 days ago, and I was hanging in on the bottom of page 1. It must be quiet at the moment. Anyway, week 1 of the Marathon Training plan has been continuing, ...

Marathon Training - Week One,...

Oh my lord, what have I done? Day one of another 16 week marathon program, 12 months after I vowed 'Never Again'. So, day one, what does the plan say, 'Rest Day'. Mmm, maybe, this marathon training is a bit easier than I remember after all???? But with ...

The Mojo slowly returns

I think I have decided I need to re-introduce themes to my blogs. Just over a year ago, when I was a serious Marathon runner for the first and only time so far in my life, I seemed to find all kinds of weird and wonderful things to blog about. I even re...

Second blog in 24 hours

Lets just call it making up for lost time!! So, before the weekend's festivities take over and I clear off for yet another long weekend at the coast at our caravan (isn't life tough?), I will quickly update on this morning's run. For the past fortnight ...

Just out of interest..

...and I will discuss my running exploits shortly, has anyone else had any problems with Java and Internet Explorer 9? My machine has updated the browser to Explorer 9, and it will let me comment on posts, but not add posts myself. So I have downloaded ...

Ankles and Colds and Stuff

At the request of my physio last Thursday, I did a gentle 3 miler on Weds morning, the day before my physio yesterday which was yesterday (Thursday). It was nice to be back outside running, even at a steady 9:31 min/mile for 3.1 miles which is what it e...

The Story Continues

First of all, it feels weird with the green headers and stuff, I am sure I will get used to the general running category! The reason for no blogland visits for a few months is outlined above and below... So I land back from Florida on the Saturday morni...
