Blog started:

By our deeds, we are known.

The fifth carnation of the blog title.  We have moved from "Best Eaten Cold" through "On a yard" and then we went on to "Getting it done."  They've all summed up how I've felt about running at the time.  I seem to be turning full circle - Brighton gave me my second taste of revenge, still a dish best eaten cold, and I returned to "On a yard."  And the new title?  Ah, well, we're Buzzers, and by our deeds we are known...

The best laid plans...

So, was this my goodbye to 100 mile runs?  I wrote the funeral oratory to my dreams many times in the long hard miles between Marlow and Henley.  I phoned my family and crew and told them I was never going to attempt one again; I couldn’t put my body or...

One Love 50K

Ah, well was there ever going to be a better way than to have a good run on Valentine’s weekend.  Yep, this weekend was the Centurion Running One Love virtual event.  It’s funny (or sad..) that I have thought about Centurion events a number of times, bu...

A weekend in tandem

Afternoon all. An update on the weekend’s running. Well, what can I say?  Think Morecambe and Wise, Ginger and Fred, and so many others – there are some partnerships that are just meant to be.  For running me, it is me and Dave who can often be found ...

Elementary, my dear runner.

Morning all. Well, as I sit and type the weather is, for the time of year, positively clement.  And that is of course why today is a rest day. Yesterday was run day, and yesterday was rain day too.  All day, incessant, inclement.  To make matters wors...

Hill repeats...

Morning all. Ah, how many ways do I enjoy hill work?  Well, let me think…. ..right, having given it some thought the answer may be “one”.  That one is that I prefer hill work to intervals/thresholds/call them what you will.  Of course, this is in a si...

Throwback Thursday

Afternoon all So, a couple of runs to update on.  I believe Throwback Thursday is a thing in social media circles, and there seems to be a bit of that about this blog too for three reasons. Firstly, it’s a throwback because I am blogging at all.  I ha...

A good weekend!

So, a weekend of running to update on, and as I sit here with beef roasting and the smell of victory all around (and a beer by my side as I type) I shall declare myself happy enough. Saturday was a 15 miler.  Friday afternoon, as I felt the sun fightin...

Muddy trail musings

Morning all, hope you’re all safe and well. So, blog 2 of 2021 – trying to rediscover that habit of regularity. Running has started to pick up a bit this week.  We have a work-based Strava group set up now, and some inter-office rivalry has already st...

Wuthering Miserables

Morning all, and Happy New Year. New?  Yes, for sure.  Year, well 2021 is indeed after 2020.  Happy?  Ah well, that’s for us to make of it what we will… And as Marillion’s Fish sang so many times in the soundtrack of this angst-ridden teenager’s mid-8...

And the eagles soared once ag...

Ah, well it’s always an amazing weekend; so, why should this Snowdonia reunion be any different?  The answer is, of course, it shouldn’t be any different. And it wasn’t.  After all, why change a winning formula? As many of you now know, I had an intere...

Sail on, good ship, sail on.

How many ways did I love today?  Well, let me count them for you! But first, let me tell you I was worried when I went to bed last night; there was only one way I could lie without cramping up – if I tried to shift at all, it was bloody agony.  And so ...

Ryder Cup, day one....

Evening all. Well, the Atlantic Coast had been a long time in the making for me.  It had promised much, I had dreamed of plenty.  And boy, did it deliver today.  Cornwall, take a bow – you truly are a prince (or should that be Duke?) amongst counties. ...

Gulliver's travels!

Well, I’m here.  Nervous and excited.  The butterflies are circling; as Vicki has sent me a text to remind me, it’s making them fly in formation that’s the key as ever. The trip down was fine; a coffee stop at the fab Hog in the Hedge, and then I was i...

Time to be Invincible?

So, the day is nearly upon me.  For the last hour or so, I have been surrounded by kit – I’m not sure how much to take, and so I am taking a lot.  And then some more. I can take all the kit I like of course.  But, at the end of the day, running remains...

One wee-eeek

Evening all. Well, the ticks have nearly ticked, the tocks are tocking.  One week today, I shall be one day into the three day Atlantic Coast Challenge.  Hopefully, it'll be a case of one marathon (and a little bit) down, two (and a couple of other lit...

A celebration.

A slightly different focus to today’s blog.  The last few weeks have been all about me, and my training for the ACC (as an aside, I shall just say that it’s going fine).  This week’s blog has to be about others. Firstly, there’s my dad.  He was a vicar...

'Allo 'Allo, Victor.

Well, you’ll know that I was never known for grace, poise or suppleness.  As a result, change takes time.  So, whilst it may be with all of the elan of a super-tanker, I have turned.  I can sense a change in my stamina.  A change for the better; muscle ...

Back to back like the Gloster...

Hello all. So, another weekly update as I gear myself up for the Atlantic Coast Challenge. Overall, I guess that I’d say it was a good week – always leave room for improvement and chuntering, of course, but progress has been made. All last week, I wa...

Freiheit running.

So, a weekly progress report. How’s it gone?  Well, if I didn’t know that I had a slog in front of me before, I do now.  The weight is hard to shift (getting old, slower metabolism), and what I had managed to lose was put back on again in beer at the H...

0-82 in 7 weeks...

0-82 in 7 weeks sounds like something my lush Landy would be able to just about achieve (well, maybe not 82mph, but certainly the 7 weeks bit!). It’s also the challenge that I have ahead of me too.  Yep, 7 weeks today, I will be running (walking, crawl...

I can remember it like it was...

Never in my wildest dreams or nightmares did I think it’d take me the best part of a month to write a blog about VLM, but there we are. So, yep, I can remember it like it was yesterday.  What a day, what a run.  I think I ticked off all of the boxes th...

So, who's it for?

This is my now traditional title for my final blog before a London Marathon.  Across the years, I have had this as a blog title three times now.  And it’ll be a pretty traditional content too. Who’s it for? Firstly, it is for my family.  Of course it ...

26.2 reasons why you'll love ...

Morning all.  This is a traditional blog of mine by now.  It's made more personal this year as I am going to be on the start line myself. London marathoners, this is for you.  It's written from the heart; like my marathon running, it's light on technic...

26.2 reasons why you'll love ...

Morning all.  Tick follows tock in countdown week.  If you've been around Realbuzz for a while, you'll know that this is a rather traditional blog at this time of year.  It changes slightly every year, but the reason is always the same; to do a bit of t...
