The Great South Run and Beyond

I have been running for a number of years now and this will be the third year in the Great South Run. I am hoping to start to increase the speed of my running as I get fitter and slimmer. My main aim with running is to enjoy it, day in day out and still be enjoying it in another 25 years time.

Adapting some more

Things are picking up

My life is slowly getting back to a state of normality. I already work from home, so no change there. The kids are at home but older enough to keep themselves busy, most of the day. I have been running with  the dog and my son on his bike most days. A c...

Still taking it easy

A Wet and Wild Weekend

As the forecast for Saturday was so bad I set the alarm for 5.30am and headed off on my run just before 6 o’clock. I wrapped up ready for wind and rain and in fact the bad weather held off until after lunch.  The plan was to do more than 13 miles and p...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone. So it is a New Year and I think a moment to look back over the past year. I started 2019 with two 10k road races getting pretty to close to my PB time, then I started training for a Middle Distance Tri, by doing a long 1.9K sw...

Cold Dip

Well we have been up to something new over the last couple of weeks. Evening swimming in a lake and yes it is cold, 5 degrees last night. When I saw swim, I mean more like a 10 minute dip, but on a moonlit frosty night it was magical. Apart from that no...

Mini Adventure

I have no real targets at the moment, just running, swimming and cycling as and when I feel. This week had been a bit quieter due to family stuff, but tomorrow I have a small adventure planned. I am going to run a section of the South Downs Way I have n...

I have still been taking it pretty easy, with just a coule of short runs this week, a short cycle and a swim session. Climbing tonight and then a swim session in the morning and a 10K race on Sunday. I have not been running much so the race is purely fo...

Taking it Easy

I have not really been up to much for a couple of weeks . At the start of September I did a Novice Triathlon to keep a friend company and it was a lovely weekend away. Then the following Saturday I  did a Sportive with a small group of friends, again en...

I did it

It has taken me a while to get round to writing about my Middle Distance Triathlon, mainly because I could not really believe I had completed it. It is one of those situation where even though you have done something you still feel like you’re not the s...

Trust the plan

I have not written anything for ages, but that is not because I have not been training, in fact quite the opposite. I have been running, swimming and cycling a lot.   I completed a sprint distance tri a couple of weeks ago and it went really well, the ...
