The Great South Run and Beyond
I have been running for a number of years now and this will be the third year in the Great South Run. I am hoping to start to increase the speed of my running as I get fitter and slimmer. My main aim with running is to enjoy it, day in day out and still be enjoying it in another 25 years time.

As the forecast for Saturday was so bad I set the alarm for 5.30am and headed off on my run just before 6 o’clock. I wrapped up ready for wind and rain and in fact the bad weather held off until after lunch. The plan was to do more than 13 miles and p...

Happy New Year to everyone. So it is a New Year and I think a moment to look back over the past year. I started 2019 with two 10k road races getting pretty to close to my PB time, then I started training for a Middle Distance Tri, by doing a long 1.9K sw...
Well we have been up to something new over the last couple of weeks. Evening swimming in a lake and yes it is cold, 5 degrees last night. When I saw swim, I mean more like a 10 minute dip, but on a moonlit frosty night it was magical. Apart from that no...
I have no real targets at the moment, just running, swimming and cycling as and when I feel. This week had been a bit quieter due to family stuff, but tomorrow I have a small adventure planned. I am going to run a section of the South Downs Way I have n...
The 10 k race I did the other weekend was great fun. It was a small run organised by a local club, around country lanes, starting and finishing t the scout hut.

It has taken me a while to get round to writing about my Middle Distance Triathlon, mainly because I could not really believe I had completed it. It is one of those situation where even though you have done something you still feel like you’re not the s...
So Sunday is the day I have been training for since forever, the longest triathlon I have ever done. OK, not an Iron man but half way there. All was going OK and then last Thursday I twisted my ankle when out running in the woods. It was not too bad, ...
I have not written anything for ages, but that is not because I have not been training, in fact quite the opposite. I have been running, swimming and cycling a lot.
I completed a sprint distance tri a couple of weeks ago and it went really well, the ...

It has been really busy few weeks, I am still working on my swimming, running and cycling. This weekend I bought myself a proper pair of Triathlon cycling shoes, I have been using MTB shoes all winter. The new shoes are taking a bit of getting used to. ...
I have had a bit of a nice surprise with my triathlon 16 week training plan. I had not looked ahead in the plan too far as did not want to scare myself, so have been working on one week at a time. I thought it had an 8 week base phase then 16 week build...
