After VLM - What's next?

Well VLM has been and gone and I absolutely loved every step of the way and minute of the whole day. A fantastic experience. But the running won't be stopping here for me. But I have come to a few decisions.

The first one being to change running club, I haven't trained with Preston Harriers for 12 months as I don't think track running is good for me, I seem to pick more injuries up when running on the track so off to a more road specific running club. Got one in mind so we'll give it try and see how it goes.

The second to decide about Liverpool after Freckleton in June and the third to train smarter. I have training plan for Freckleton that's supposed to be for 12 weeks. We have nine but the times in the early weeks are achievable and the rest will need working at but seem achievable as well. So I'm raring to go.

RACES

Bupa 10k Manchester 15th May

Tunnel 10k Liverpool 12th June

Freckleton Half Marathon 19th June

VLM again? Possibly, maybe, probably but not next year.

Getting nearer

Well the race packs have arrived today. I'm in zone 5 and Keith zone 6. Need to sort out me dropping back or a meeting point as we want to run together. The training is still a bit up and down. The Hilton Half went well, fuelling and the run/walk strate...

Back on target and advice needed

Happier at last. Back on target this weekend so feeling happier. The 16 miles was hard going from about 14 miles. I started feeling light headed so I think I need to eat more during the week and especially on the days that we are running. Might have to ...

A blustery 12 miles

Still not quite hitting the LSR target distance. Did a very blustery 12 miles yesterday were the wind seemed to be permanently in our faces and never behind us. We were aiming for 14 miles but after a Saturday of working football so on our feet for a so...

A set back

Bit late with the blog again but here it is. After looking at the weather over the weekend we decided to do the long run on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday morning. It didn't go well at all. My legs felt like lead and I was really struggling. I cou...

Belated up date

In the week up to Sunday we did the Welcome Tavern 5k on Tuesday and a short run on Thursday after which my left hamstring has been sore. On Sunday we did 12 miles with me nursing my hamstring. It was a fairly flat route round the Guild Wheel and we did...

Double figures

We did our first double figure run since March today and have decided on a run walk strategy for York. Last Sunday we did 8 miles rather slowly but today we got to that 8 mile point 7 mins quicker than last week. Then the wheels came off. We hit the 20%...

Very bad blogger is back again!!

After a fair few weeks of not blogging I'm back. After being ill in May I have fully recovered. Life has been a bit manic. We did the mersey Tunnel 10k at the beginning of June in very hot conditions but thoroughly enjoyed the new course. As usual it en...

Things not going well

Since the last positive post things have gone downhill. Both of us have had a cold, mine keeps going and re-appearing a week later, leading to stomach bug this week which has kept me off work. Keith has also had a calf injury but at least we are getting...

The road to the Yorkshire Mar...

Well it has well and truly begun. The new Adidas shoes got another outing tonight a slow couple of miles. They are really comfy although slightly tighter on the right foot than the left probably due to a slight swelling beteween my fourth and fifth meta...

VLM from a spectators view

Well a manic weekend that was. Started on 09:50 train to London Euston and a chat with Alison (KraftyKat) Wolstenholme a Realbuzzer. Hope your run went well Alison. Then lunch and check-in at the hotel and off to Primark on Oxford Street. Then off to th...

Just over a month

Please forgive me for I have been a bad blogger. I have been running and the training has gone okay in the build up to the Liverpool Half last Sunday. But I have not been feeling brilliant and this has been going on for a while. Regular readers may reme...

The last two weeks

Have been tough going. Managed and 8 mile run the week before last with a couple of short runs during the week. Then 9 miles yesterday were really tough my legs felt like lead and really didn't want to go anywhere at all. Today they feel like they belon...

Windy 7

That was yesterday. We waited till it stopped raining and set off on a boring route that in the main kept us sheltered from the wind but when we weren't the wind was well and truly in our faces for the first 4.5 miles and behind us for the 2.5 miles hom...

Week 4 completed

Well week 3 & 4 of Jantastic completed. I did play a joker due to a slight a niggle in the hip area and not being able to run last Sunday. I got about 400m into the Welcome Tavern 10k and pulled out due to the cold and wind which was really affectin...

Into week 3

Completed week two of Jantastic with a run on Sunday. Not the required mileage due to a few aches and pains. Too much up and down stairs on Saturday at work. So week three of Jantastic will culminate in the Welcome Tavern 10k. A run we have done several...

Two thirds there

Through week 2 of Jantastic and two runs done. The same run as this time last week and slightly quicker. Apart from that nothing to report really. Need to start upping the miles during the week in preparation for the Great North West half at the end of ...

Run done

I don't usually run in a morning, but as I had the morning off work I got my run in and logged on Jantastic. The same route and same way as Thursday night but half a minute quicker so fairly happy with that. I did think about a longer run but it takes y...

Done it

Completed the three runs I put on my Jantastic profile. If you had asked me this time last week I would have said no way and I would be playing my joker but I HAVE DONE IT!!!    They were slow and a mixture of running and walking but at least they were ...

Jantastic

Make that three days off work in total. Lots of aching, sweating, shivering. Anyway enough of that nearly back to normal. So I signed up to Jantastic before christmas three runs a week. So a nice steady build up to February. Well managed the first of th...

Into 2014

Well it hasn't started well. Two days off work sick with what i'd say was flu but I've had my flu jab but aching, shivering, sweating, sleeping and not eating. A bit bunged up but nothing serious. So no running since Tuesday a slow but pain free 2 miles...

That's done it

Hope you all had a great christmas. Our's was nice and quiet, time re-charging the batteries before the on slaught of 2014. Not done a lot of running due to Keith having a pulled groin muscle which seems to be taking forever to mend itself. So to get th...

Blimey that long

Can't believe it's been that long. The new job has been a bit manic to say the least and it's taking time adjusting back to working every weekend and having a day off during the week in leiu of working on a Saturday. But it is also making me lazy as it ...

No blogging

as usual equals no running. Still not really got over the chest infection. Was back at the doctors yesterday. I've not really been right since I had a viral throat infection in August, I've either had a sore throat or been coughing but I've not really f...
