So after last week’s rather pessimistic post, today I come with good news, in fact tell a lie, im absolutely beaming.
Today I take my first steps in becoming a "real runner" (don’t shoot me down, I know anyone who starts running starts as I have, at the beginning, running, walking, slow but sure progression)
I am really pleased (maybe even proud) to report that I was able to complete my first all-out, no stopping, no walking, committed to the end run! and I cant stop smiling.
I took on board the comments I received on Monday, and slowed my pace down even further, and although I felt as slow as a snail, I made it, and in fact recorded my fastest average pace, fastest Kilometer, and fastest mile (none of which is surprising as you obviously lose time when walking)...
my pace and times don’t matter though... I pushed through a barrier which has been holding me back for a few weeks now, and the more I think about it, the more I believe it was a mental wall rather than physical one. OK I probably wasn’t going to do another 5k on top of what I did, but I felt like I could have kept going if I needed.
Anyway, off for some R&R for the rest of the evening... very happy... can’t wait for Wednesday's run!!!
edit: i guess i should have mentioned that i did 5k in 28mins..
