I hurt and ache so much!!!

Posted on: 06 Jan 2008

Well I managed my first 20 mile session today and now I am in so much pain! Not injured fortunately just aching and tired.  I was OK up to around 17 then started to feel it and from 18-19 was awful but picked up a bit in the last mile.

Quite a hilly route as you can see from the graph but that's to be expected around here.  I tried to maintain an 8:30 average but was a bit quick in first few miles although I knew the later hills would slow me down. In the end I averaged 8:33 so pretty good for a 20. That sort of pace would give me 3:41 for a marathon, hopefully after another 14 weeks I'll get that down to 8:30 pace for a 3:30 marathon - weather permitting.

Here's the graph showing the hills...  no it isn't 'access denied' apparently!!

Here's my mile splits instead

8:18, 8:23, 8:16, 8:15, 8:30, 9:17, 8:20, 8:28, 8:19, 8:51, 7:57, 8:32, 8:39, 8:18, 8:34, 8:50, 8:49, 8:16, 9:26, 8:38

If Realbuzz had let me load the graph you see where the ups and downs were.  I'll try to add it in later...

Thanks for all your comments about my old training logs from my last post.  If only I could run like I did 25 years ago I wouldn't feel so tired now but I suppose time catches up with all of us!!

PS Pete it was Samuel Goldwyn!
