I used to aim to do a 45-minute cycle, several times a week (typically watching something like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, or more recently Grey’s Anatomy). But quite often I didn’t manage it. By the time I got home from work, I just didn’t have the time and/or energy to start exercising.
Well, in early March, I started a new job (doing admin at a university in London). I was there for a week, before they closed the building, and sent us all to come and work from home – I was incredibly lucky, because I wouldn’t have been able to start at all, a week later.
Now, I get up at seven, and start work at seven-thirty. I normally finish at four, and straightaway, most days, I drag my bike out. So, in a normal week, I cycle for at least 45 minutes, often an hour, about five times a week.
This week, I have been working my way the Line of Duty (the BBC drama set in a police anti-corruption unit). So, that is an hour a day, and I try and make sure that I am cycling hard for the whole time.
So, as I said, this lock-down is good for my fitness, and my waistline. :-) I am feeling much fitter, I have lost a significant amount of wait, and my waistline and my belly are looking much better. I want to go on holiday, so I can wear a bikini!
