End of week 16.......See you ...

So, this time next week I will hopefully be very proudly wearing number 50597 on my lovely new charity shirt.......and if all goes to plan, I will be doing this in the pub :o) Do I feel ready? Absolutely not! Do I think many people feel ready at this st...

End of week 15.......Enforced...

Monday morning I thought I would make the most of the bank holiday and decided to do a run before making the most of the gorgeous weather.  Mindful of this tapering lark, and having done a long run on the previous Friday it was only 8 miles but the time...

End of week 14.......In my 20s

I'm not going to lie; having completed the Liverpool Half last Sunday I was in no state to hop back on my beloved treadmill on Monday (not least because i felt like i had already done enough hard work to last me a lifetime......hmmmm, doesn't bode well ...

Gawd blimey.......4 weeks to go and judging by today's run out, i won't be ready until at least 8 weeks time!! First though, what has this week seen in terms of easing back into training following the injections? Not as much as I would have liked but I ...

End of week 12.......Turbo tr...

I didn't manage a blog at the end of week 11......firstly because I was otherwise occupied with Mothering Sunday, but more relevant to this blog is that there was no running to report!! I managed a short 5 mile run on Monday 9th March, but that was foll...

End of week 10.........PMA an...

So, it would appear that it is easy for this marathon lark to effectively take over the first 4 months of the year.....in fact, i think its pretty much expected! But i was thinking this week how lucky I am that the most stressful thing in my life is try...

End of week 9.......several s...

I had a change of plan this week......i decided to do fewer runs but make them longer! All seemed fine until today so I'm uncertain as to how to proceed over the next 7 days, but i'll do the usual and play it by ear depending on how the leg feels and th...

End of week 7......grapes sho...

Wow, once you've committed to a race, it is amazing the guilt you can feel when you wobble off the training plan.......particularly when it's entirely your own fault and the fact you feel rubbish is not down to illness but over-indulgence in vino!!  Fo...

End of week 6......listening ...

Aim for slow and steady they said........ So i did And, you know what? I think that they were right :o) Thanks so much to all those who've followed my progress over the last few weeks, and taken the time to message me on facebook, or by text, to sponso...

End of week 5..your knee bone...

So, it turns out that there is life outside of the marathon (who knew?!)......and this week has been a very challenging one!  However, made some real progress with the knee having seen an incredible physio.  First though, how are the runs? I've done 4 ...

End of week 4......the length...

Two weeks ago there were several nights when i couldn't sleep......this may not sound unusual to most, but to those who know me, it was cause for great concern; for my ability to sleep is legendary; i've fallen asleep before the car left the driveway (i...

End of week 3.......patience ...

So, in 97 days I will be at the start line, hopefully ready and raring to go. As I count down the days I am conscious of the challenge both in terms of fundraising and training, and of course, there is the dreaded knee to contend with. In terms of fundr...

End of week 1

OK, so, first attempt at a blog, and first attempt at a marathon......Not sure which will be most successful but I suspect that neither will be as short in duration as i would like!! Anyway, not much to report at the end of week one so in lieu of a trai...
