The 555 Challenge

the555challenge.com

... It has been 5 years since Chris Ajala passed away, which has inspired Louise Ajala and her cousin Paul Honey to undertake the 555 Challenge – 5 events in 5 months to raise £5000 for the Cardiomyopathy Association to remember the drive and determination of Chris

The first 4 events of Louise’s challenge will be in the heat and humidity of Dubai, whilst Paul will be braving the cold and rain of winter in the UK, before we take on the final and biggest challenge of all together, the LONDON MARATHON 2015

This blog is a personal diary of the challenge for ourselves but also to hopefully entertain, inform, possibly even inspire all those that read it and encourage you to support the cause with your feedback and maybe even the odd donation

The Only Way is Effort

By Paul (October 20th) ... How did I train for that first marathon then? Well, in all honesty, whilst I mock Louise’s perfectionism and attention to detail, I did originally aspire to such structure. A friend recommended a great read to prepare myself f...

TOWIE to blame!

By Paul (October 20th) ... Wow, you really can tell Louise is a teacher, applying all those theories and tables with pretty colours and stuff to her training schedule! ;0) My training plan has always been and will continue to be a little less structured...

Ready, Steady, Go!!

By Louise (October 20th) ... I am using a training program in preparation for the half marathon in December.  This is a first for me and there are a multitude of options out there to choose from – trust me I have researched extensively. I have decided t...

A case of blog-gy-itis??

By Paul ... Thanks for the feedback so far. We actually started blogging about our challenge on a wordpress website we setup a couple of months ago when our training commenced - http://www.the555challenge.com. When I noticed this forum on the VLM site e...

Getting the balance

By Louise (October 14th) ... My training schedule requires me to train up to 6 times a week and began in earnest back in early September.  I can talk for hours on runner’s world, hydration, electrolytes and heart rate.  I am at risk of becoming a marath...

Watch out, Mo!

By Louise (October 7th) ... I probably need to point out at this stage that I am no Mo Farah!!! I am a 42 year old, reasonably fit and healthy, regular female.  I eat chocolate on occasion, love steak and chips and am partial to a wine or two. I have a...

26 Miles … Again! … Are you c...

By Paul (October 3rd) ... So, this isn’t my first London Marathon. I got lucky in the ballot two years ago and ran the 2013 race, at the not so tender age of 42. The experience of not only completing the 26 miles, but the preceding 6 months of training ...

Why Oh Why, the 555?

By Louise (October 2nd) ... On April 12, 2010 Chris and I married in the idyllic setting of Barbados.  On the morning of our wedding we did our usual daily run along the beach much to the amusement of other hotel guests and staff who thought we were bon...
