I try and eat grain and gluten free which can mean I struggle for energy while running – do you have any tips?

If you are grain and gluten free there are plenty of other foods you can eat. I’d suggest trying sweet potatoes, they are a great slow-release carb substitute to rice, pasta and other grains.

There are plenty of ways to serve up sweet potatoes too – baked whole, in wedges, as a mash – all being tasty accompaniments to any meals. Other options include roasted butternut squash and maybe (if suitable for you) consider beans such as black and pinto beans.

I am not a big drinker, I enjoy a few beers now and then but do I need to give up alcohol completely when I am training for the marathon?
