How do I fuel myself for the swim in a triathlon race?

Especially in the long distance races where we’re aiming for some calories every 30 minutes or so, the swim will interrupt that routine as you can’t really fuel yourself while you’re swimming very easily at all.

However, it’s often a good idea to take a gel right before the start of the race and perhaps have it available at transition 1 to top up your energy levels.
