weekley news........
Hey it seems like I only get on here once a week with enough time to write up my stuff! Then again last week didnt see much action in the gym at all! Was mega tired and not really sure why although diving the weekend before had taken more out of me than I imagined!
Its strange really......many times I have been faced with things i find difficult but nothing has really beaten me as much as this diving lark! I absolutly love being under the water and swimming around sightseeing but am really struggling with removing the mask and putting it back on. I have panic attacks under the water.....very difficult to do with a regulator in your mouth! Anyway I will crack it one day.......
here I had tried about a million times to do the mask!....still smiling though!
now its off but cant get it back on!
finally off and back on again........ bloody Red Sea is salty!
Anyway out again this weekend....praticing another skill as the mask is no go or few sessions!
Yesterday saw me back in the gm with the almighty one! He has grown in size! He's training for a competition in Spain and needs to weigh 125kg......at the min he is only 104kg! Anyway I did 30 mins bike weightloss programme levels 5 to 12. Stretches - no abs as lets just say ladies white trousers sometimes not a good mix! Chest and back - painful as back sore from carrying diving gear around for two days! Back onto arc trainer for 10 mins level 10 speed fast! finish with 5 mins run on the mill. It sure felt good to be back in the gym.
Back in tomorrow as life is ega busy at the min....rehersals for Little Red Riding Hood are twice sometimes three times a week for the next two weeks then 3 performances!.......
Andy if you and your family ever want to come over here for diving just let me know. I've got two spare rooms and some fantastic people that would take you diving! Also i anyone is interested in using my apartment during summer months just let me know.

Hiya peeps!
another few weeks have passed and I'm still not in the habit of posting!. The weather here is good although has been a cool 17 degrees today! Not sure if you lot know but I had 3 extra days off last week due to very heavy rain! So much rain in fact that Aqaba was flooded! It rained for over 10hours in one go.......more rain than they have had in 60 yrs! None of the drains can cope and obviously the ground is baked hard so water just flows off it. The old building in the school was knee deep in water, we have marble floor tiles - really health and safety conscious! so last MOnday school was closed until Sunday! We were advised to keep low profile and not rub it in to the families.....so I kept low profile.....10 metres under the sea!
trying to look relaxed befre going for my dive. Believe it or not I had actually had panic attack in the pool 2 days before ......and I had not even tried to do any of the safety stuff - just merely getting used to breathing under the water.
againstill before entering the water......speakin of water.........check how blue it was!
a very good day was spent swimming with fishes, shame I didnt have camera as there was a newspaper on the bottom which a lot of fish were surrounding......almost like they were reading it!
Have managed to do one session with the almighty one ........usual pain except magnified due to 3 weeks off.
So more diving sessions to follow in the next few weeks and will get back into going to the gym - I promise.

OMG its been a month!
what can I say other than I've had a hectic time!...........school was mega busy in the run up to xmas and then I had a 36 hr journey to home! Was teaching from 7.30 til 1.30 on the 23rd then had lunch before a 4.30hr drive to Amman hang around from 7 til 12.30am when we headed off to the airport where we then had to wait til 3.30am for flight. Arrived safely in Istanbul at 5.30am for another 2 hr wait well should have been it turned into 3hrs as we parked up on the runway for an unexplained hour! Hit Manchester at 11.30 am to have to wait for bus to Man before waiting for another bus to home.....was bloody tired and cold by the time I stepped foot in my door!
I have to confess I did nothing exercise wise over xmas, over new yr and over the next two weeks neither! No car and the weather being so miserable meant I wasn't going anywhere! but the good news is I only put 2kgs on!
Had an equally traumatic flight back with Turkish airlines being delayed for 40 mins in Man and then missing my connecting flight in Istanbul by about 5 mins thus enduring another 4hr stay in an airport before 2hr flight to Amman leading to stopover here til bus back home at 2.30pm!
Yesterday saw me hit the gym for the first time in 3 weeks........boy was it tough! Khaled should have been putting me through my paces but he was ill so Hannah and I motivated each inbetween gossiping about the holidays! We spent 40 mins on the bike level 8 weight loss programme before doing stretches and stomach before returning to bike for another 30 min chat!
Then - just for you Malcolm - we retired to hotel and spent the days sunbathing! I've actually got sunburnt shoulders! beautiful!
More on the seasonal weather with my next post........just to reassure you I've not forgotten what I've left behind I will leave you with this picture after wishing you all a happy productive 2010!

Dec18200912:34 a.m.
well I'm up......
basically cos I cant sleep!....its 2.37am here and I'm wide awake.....why does egg and toast sometimes give me heartburn and why does my downstairs neighbour think that moving furniture at midnight is a good idea????????? Last night he was hanging pictures at 12.30am and in a building where everything vibrates its not a good time! And of course the almighties alarm clock wakes everyone up at 4.30am because prayer is better than sleep!
Ok rant over.........well since my last post I hav emanaged to fit in 3 gym sessions. Life is mega busy over here......no buckra (tomorrow) or bad uckra (day after tomorrow ) but now! I have had to write 3 science exams, one history and one mathsexam for my groups. Now I have spent the last week marking them and writing them and writing reports. In England the result is the result but not over here....we have English result and then a result which the ministry wants.....basically if child gets a grade c t equates to 50 - 60 percent in the ministry it equals 75%?????????????
14th saw me with the mighty Khaled.......on my own today as Hannahs knees are bad.
-
I began with 30 mins bike level 5 weight loss programme then onto mill for supposedly 30 mins weight loss again level 6 but 2 mins I was getting cramp in my calves. This is happening a lot just recently - not sure why - unless its because I'm off bananas but then didnt really eat many of them before?
-
Due to cramp I had choice of x trainer or arc trainer......I chose......the arc trainer! beginning to like this machine now and not just for its mega calorie burn! 2 mins level 6
-

-
glutes - will have kylie bottom one day!....50 reps both legs then 25 reps both legs
-
leg extensions 3 x 20 reps
-
leg curls 3 x 20 reps
-
abbductor and adductor 3 x 50 reps
-
chest press 50 x 2 reps
-
x trainer to finish - should have known I wouldnt get out of it!
16th
-
began with the last instalment on the ? part of the couch to 5k....it was 90 secs walk, 90 secs run followed by 3 min run and 3 min walk x 2. On the last 3 min run I decided I was going to try and do 5 mins as thats the next one.......it was easy!....well maybe not easy but ok!
-
gentle session with Hannah - we did 30 mins bike level 6, streches and abs
18th
-
Back with his lordship....15 mins bike level 8 - waiting for him to arrive
-
20 mins mill weight loss level 7 - speeds going from 6.4 to 7.2 and 8.0....was flying it felt great so on the 8.0 bits we pushed it to 10.0 only for 1 min but was brill.....decided to extend the time by 10mins.......Khaled very pleased!
-
strecthes then abs - stick today 2 x 100 and 100 side bends
-
abs off a bench today - laid flat on back with bottom near end. Firstly leg raises with legs together 2 x 25 then leg raises singular 2 x 25 then back to together for last set of 17!
-
glutes 2 x 50 reps
-
abs on inclined bench 2 x 15 reps
-
arc trainer to finish 15 mins made up of 5 easy, 10 level 10 with goal of making 250 cals and 5 mins cool down.
Brilliant sessions and lots of people are saying they can see changes in my body shape. It will be interesting to see what people say back home.
Onto home......is anyone interested in doing ALex Park in Manchester on the first Sunday in January.....I'm going and it would be great to meet up and maybe do lunch afterwards?

random facts.......not to sure how effective some of these are!!!!!!!!
Cinnamon and Honey
Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey.. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing". When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey.
Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.
Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:
HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also, those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.
ARTHRITIS:
Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.
BLADDER INFECTIONS:
Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.
CHOLESTEROL:
Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.
COLDS:
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days.. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses.
UPSET STOMACH:
Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.
GAS:
According to the studies done in India and Japan , it is revealed that if Honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.
IMMUNE SYSTEM:
Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of Honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacterial and viral diseases.
INDIGESTION:
Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.
INFLUENZA:
A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural ' Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu..
LONGEVITY:
Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder, and three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans also increase and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old.
PIMPLES:
Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water.. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.
SKIN INFECTIONS:
Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.
WEIGHT LOSS:
Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach, and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.
CANCER:
Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three times a day.
FATIGUE:
Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week.
BAD BREATH:
People of South America , first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.
HEARING LOSS:
Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing. Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon sprinkled on it!Read post | 6 comments | 571 post views |
