Will I ever be as fast as normal people?

I'm going to do the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-on-Avon in April '09 (maybe, but I am not sure yet if I am 'fast' enough for them to let me do the 2nd half). I'm currently down in Australia until March '09 (where I seem to be running even slower than normal). I was always slow, and then in 2005 I had an awful accident, and I'm now 'blind' and disabled. I ran FLM '08 in 6:45.  But there were some people behind me, I wasn't last! I will get faster (I hope!).

Should i be pleased or not?

I just did my 7.15 mile route again, and this time I did it the fastest yet! Unfortunately, though, it's still over the 12.25 min/mile cut-off for the Shakespeare. If I did the whole marathon at today's pace, I'd finish it in under 6h, as they insist. ...

I still don't know why I'm so...

I just did the same 2 1/2 mile route that I did on Friday. I was a minute and a half faster than I was on Friday, but still slower than Wednesday. And even that 'fast' one day I was still running about 13 minutes a mile. I did manage a fair few runs at ...

I can think of nothing intere...

I just did 5 1/2 miles. Not as fast as I need for the marathon, but a few minutes faster than I managed that route last time (3 weeks ago, before my fall last 2 weeks ago). I know I'm going on and on about this, but I just don't understand why all my r...

Hot? At 6:30 am?

No rain today. I went for the same run again, but did it even slower than usual I honestly think that marathon isn't going to happen. But, the weekend starts tomorrow, and I should gat a few runs in. (I also have Monday alone, so I should run then too...

Rain rain rain rain rain :-(

I know loads of people cope with running in the rain, but my glasses make it a nightmare. And it's raining again today. :-( I had no time for a run over the weekend, because of my husband's IronMan on Sunday (which he did fine at, and he enjoyed, but ha...

Wooo! I can 'run' again! :-)

I just went for my 2.4 circuit, and my knees hurt all the way, but :-) I 'ran' all the way round :-) OK, it was at just under 14 minute/miles, but I was consciously not pushing it. My calves hurt now though. Ach, it's so hilly here! OK, I'll take the we...

Nope. :-(

So much for me planning a run today. It hurts so much just to walk down stairs (which there are so many of in this weirdo Australian house. I am currently at the table on the 2nd floor. I sleep downstairs. Then the car lives down below that, and I have ...

Nervous

Tomorrow morning I am going to try a short-ish run, to see how much it hurts these bruises. I would take another day or two off, but I won't run at the weekend, what with my husband expecting me to look after the kids, while he goes off to do this silly...

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow :-(

I just set off to run 9 miles. But I fell over a few hundred yards from the house. Blood and bruises everywhere. :-( I tried to carry on running, but I quickly realised that there was no way I could.

I'm a bit pleased with myself...

I thought I had a 6k race this morning. but in the car on the way there, I found out that it was a 7.5k race. I really enjoyed it. No traffic to worry about, etc., and other people running (though most of them were going much faster than me, of course!...

Over 20 miles this week! :-)

I just did a 3 1/2 mile run, which made me very happy because a) It was under that 12 1/2 minutes / mile cut off I need for the first half of the marathon and b) It took this week (Sun-Sat) to over 20 miles. OK, it's not that high, but it's the first ti...

I've no idea how 'slow' that ...

Today was fun. My Ozzie running partner brought along one of her 'normal' running partners (who she said was fast). They were running along chatting, and I was working quite hard to keep up. So I think it was fast. But I don't know the exact route we to...

Oh no! :-(

I knew the Shakespeare Marathon had a 6h cut-off, which would hopefully not have been a problem. But I just saw that they have a cut-ff at about the 11.84 mile mark, of 2h25, but I predict I'll be there at 2h35, if I go as 'fast' as I did today. So, eve...

:-(

Not a good run at all :-( I got a bit confused by the route (paths disappearing etc), and then I was lost ('Left somewhere down here. Is it this one? Or that one?'). Overall, over 14 minutes a mile. :-(

9 miles on Monday, then no bl...

I ran 9 miles on Monday, at just under 13 minutes a mile (so, slow, but hey, this is me!). I'll be doing 5ish tomorrow too. Plus I've downgraded my marathon training to Hal Higdon's 'Intermediate', which has me currently ahead of schedule. Don't remembe...

Ooooh, my fastest time round ...

OK, it was only 20 seconds faster, on a half hour run, but... Just 2.5 miles (at 12 minutes a mile, but hey, 12.8 is fater than the 13.5 min/mile i did that my first time, in early October.

Oops again.

Too busy watching whales today to find time to run. I might manage it tomorrow. We'll see... I promise I will on Monday!

Well, not good, but at least ...

I didn't manage that 2.4 mile route as fast as I did last week, but hey, at least I did it! Gosh, it's hilly here! I thought Australia was flat, but this bit is lots lots lots hillier than the bit of Surrey where we live. There I have to plan a...

Sorry

This is a pointless post, but I just wanted to complain a bit. My Ozzie running partner has had to pull out of our planned run tomorrow. I hope I will go for a (short!) run, early (6am), on my own. Then I hope I'll manage one or two runs over the weeken...

Phew! yet again

I just did the 7.15 route again. It was almost exactly the same speed as last week (I don't suppose I can count a few seconds as 'speeding up', over an hour and a half, can I?). We're still looking at just under 13 min/mile (so just over 5.5 hours for a...

8.4 miles :-)

I just ran 8.4 hilly miles (some of which I hadn't planned. It's very irritating not having a printer here to print out maps!). I took just under 13 minutes a mile, which equates to a little over 5.5 hours for the marathon. So that's now my target. 5 1/...

OK, one more D'oh!

Right then, it doesn't seem to accept the text I'd cut and pasted. So I'll type this in. I'd made an idiotic mistake, and typed 38 minutes into my Excel spreadsheet, instead of 28 minutes. So, it should be 12.x minutes a mile, not 16.x. Slow by no...

D'oh! some more. :-(

I don't know why the last one was called 'D'oh!', but didn't have any text in it. I had said : "

D'oh!
