Pete W's Fun Run 2008
Well the heat of 2007 hasn't put me off so I'll be applying again for 2008! What really convinced me was the superb camaraderie and support from fellow bloggers (you know who you are!!).
So this site will map out my racing and training as I go through the year until FLM 08. I'll be doing shorter races over the summer and probably cross country for the club in winter then kicking in the marathon training come December.
Hope to see a lot of fellow 2007 bloggers on here and hope they'll say HI!

Ran at lunchtime with Jenny and Sam (he's doing a cycle/run/kayak tri in September) we did 2 miles in 20 mins so a bit quicker than Jenny has run so far but I sat back and Sam ran and Jenny followed him - if if had been too quick for her I'd have...
Met Louise at the Club and we set off for an 7-ish mile run. As we got going into the first mile which was slightky up hill all the way, we both commented that it felt tough and our legs just weren't feeling good! The second mile continued to c...
I gave blood today for the first time in years and promised them I wouldn't run tonight - but I'm a runner so what could I do!
Off to the track for 1 mile warm up followed by running drills and then 5 x 2 minutes on the track - the di...
Well an early start today (not as early as Tracy C & Neal) - up at 6 and set off at 7 to get to Leeds for 8.

Did 2.5 mile at lunch time with Wendy that included a bloody big hill! Tonight I went to the track and ran a total of another 2.5 miles easy before and after the ses...
Well I took the track session tonight very easy... for me
The session was 4 x 200m with 200m walk recovery and I probably ran at arounf 60-70% effort. I didn't take my watch or my Garmin so no times or stats other than it felt very ...
Got some messages from Jenny this afternoon, she did the RFL in Huddersfield and loved every minute of it!!!
She didn't get a time but said she was quicker than when we ran the distance last Tuesday and there were only about 30 people...
Decided to run today and then rest tomorrow for a change before starting my easy week before the Leeds 10k.
I ran 3.55 miles to Heaton Park at a comfortable pace with mile splits of 8:11/8:20/8:31/5:08 heart rate average 136 max 147 s...
Well after the way I felt last night I wasn't sure how I'd cope with 5 x 800m with 3 min recoveries on the track tonight.
Did 2 miles jog to warm up then our usual running drills. I started off steady on the first 800m or what I thou...
Met Louise ready to do a fast tempo run over 4.43 miles and the weather was horrible - it had been raining hard most of the afternoon and was still coming down hard as we set off and splashed our way through the puddles.
We set off fa...
Well I went out at lunchtime with Jenny & Wendy - as you know Jenny is doing the Race for Life on Sunday in Huddersfield which Wendy tells us is hilly (she did it last year and hasn't run since before this last two weeks).
I'd tol...
Tonight's was a session we do every now and then to check speed endurance over a road course of approx 1500m or as my garmin said tonight 0.85 miles. This also shows that speed sessions don't have to be done on the track.
We do 3 of t...
Today was so hot it reminded me of 22nd April...
I set off about 11:45 so not the coolest part of the day but I figured I've got to get used to running in the heat at some time! The plan was for 10 miles as I said on harri's blog last...
A really nice warm night just ideal for track running at speed!
Warmed up with a mile jog then running drills and a 70m sprint to stretch out the old legs! Tonight's session was 2 x (200m fast, 100m jog, 300m fast, 100m jog, 100m spr...
Didn't feel up to my fast tempo run today as my legs were still a bit achy from Monday's track session, so I did a run with Jenny and increased her distance to 2.7 miles.
The first mile was mainly uphill (363 ft up and 80 ft down) so ...
Well Jenny and Wendy brought their kit today so we went out at lunchtime for a warm run - very sunny today!
We did the 2.3 mile route that Jenny and I did last week and it went really well. This was the furthest that Wendy has done s...
I was supposed to run at lunch today but Jenny ran last night (a hill session near her home - not bad for her second week of running!) and Wendy was going to the gym so didn't want to run. I thought about running a fast tempo 3.5 mile but decide...
After three days of hard training I took Friday off as a rest day and today just ran a recovery run - 6.05 miles in 53:58 averaging 8:54.
As I was taking it easy I didn't wear the HRM and don't think I got HR up above 150 I ran very e...
Well following the reaction to my comments about Garmin stats I've decided to give you some more!
Tonights session at the track was planned as 8 x 400m with 2 mins recoveries. The athletes have a meeting on Sunday so they were not do...
First of all I ran at lunchtime with Wendy (Jenny had forgot her kit) who having seen Jenny run twice last week wanted to start running again - she did Race for Life last year.
Did the same out and back 2 mile route that Jenny did but...
Had a run at work today and as Jenny had a day off I chose to do a tempo run on my own. Used my usual up and down 3.73 mile course where the first mile is most of the uphill for the full route.
My garmin took longer to get the satell...
Well went out for my longest run since FLM today. I'd hoped to race 10 miles at Leyland but didn't feel I'd done enough to race so opted for a tough 10 mile training run instead.
I hoped to run at 8 minute mile pace and set off insid...
Thanks for all the best wishes for my birthday. I must admit that I'm not a new convert to the technical world of Garmin - I've had a 205 for the last few years but it was on it's last legs and totally packed up after 1.02 miles of the Spenboroug...
I forgot to say that today is my 51st Birthday and on the way home tonight I'm picking up my new Garmin 305 that they tried to deliver yesterday - a present off my long suffering running widow Ann - thanks love!!
