Pete W's Fun Run 2008
Well the heat of 2007 hasn't put me off so I'll be applying again for 2008! What really convinced me was the superb camaraderie and support from fellow bloggers (you know who you are!!).
So this site will map out my racing and training as I go through the year until FLM 08. I'll be doing shorter races over the summer and probably cross country for the club in winter then kicking in the marathon training come December.
Hope to see a lot of fellow 2007 bloggers on here and hope they'll say HI!

See you on the other side folks!!
Wendy and I went out to do the 3.7 mile route that we ran in 39 minutes last Tuesday. We set off well and Wendy was chatting away and it wasn't until around 2 miles that I realised we were running inside her usual 10 minute pace.

Out at lunch on my own for an easy run around a 5k course, nice sunny day but cool and I took it steady in 27:30. Yes I know it seems crazy to be out running after Sunday but it's what my body's used to, I always run after my long runs and races...
Well sort of...

Well I'm seriously tapering and not even being tempted to run hard.
I went to the Club where I'd planned a tough session for the group - 6 x 90s hard with 60s recovery jog, then 5 x 60s hard with 30s recoveries. I jogged the 1 mile wa...
Great session today and thanks to Darren and Mark who came to the track to join me on the session of Yasso 800s. 10 x 800m in 3:30 with 400m jog recovery in the same time.
The weather was almost perfect - bright and sunny but a cold w...
Well no aches and pain after last night's race and we had a road run planned at the club - the pace depends on who turns up. There were just 6 of us tonight and 3 of us had run last night, so a recovery run was decided on.
We did 3.7...
Well I went to the race as planned but decided to just run how I felt and not to wear my racing shoes. There were a few of us from the Club - Karl, Simon, Darren, Louise, Mark, Jane, Andrea, Emily and Darren (Louise's husband).

After a lovely day in the Lake District, visiting Holker Hall (and Grange over Sands) where there's a beautiful house, gardens and a Motor Museum. The house is still lived in by the Cavendish fanily and the part that is open to the public has no...
Met up with Louise at 12 today in what seemed very hot weather - well compared with the last week or so! The thermometer in my car said 15 degs when we'd finished running!

Thanks for all your advice and I am listening - I didn't run at lunch today. I tried to see physio but couldn't get in but I managed to get a back massage which seems to have helped a lot. Hopefully i...
But improving slowly!!
Thanks for all your good wishes and advice, I woke today still in pain but it's a little easier. Been taking the ibuprofen and using Nurofen gel to massage in which seems to be working. Back to work tomorrow a...
I woke up this morning with an aching back and this view out of the window!!
