The Great South Run and Beyond

I have been running for a number of years now and this will be the third year in the Great South Run. I am hoping to start to increase the speed of my running as I get fitter and slimmer. My main aim with running is to enjoy it, day in day out and still be enjoying it in another 25 years time.

Ankle Pain

No running today due to both lack of time but also I have a pain in my ankle just below the ankle bone. It hurts when I walk and when I run. I have iced it to see if that helps. I would probably describe it as a sharp pain that lasts for a second than g...

Intervals Done

Todays intervals done and now the rain has come so perfect timing.I always enjoy intervals, so a good day today. I will try to get 30 mins done tomorrow but I will be a bit short on time so will have to see

New Week

Last week turned out to be a good week with a decent mileage. The weather has been lovely for the last few days and seems to have really warmed up. The plan today is a short run at lunchtime and then intervals tomorrow

Interval Day

As I am now working to my training plan, today is interval day, which I always dread but enjoy it once I get started. I am hoping at my next 10k race to get under an hour, this maybe a bit optimistic but you don’t know until you try. Hence the interva...

Early Start

Well early run for me today,6.30am. I know that is not early for some of you. I am feeling really pleased with myself for getting out there. It actually felt pretty warm and a bit spring like, so very enjoyable. It also means I can relax for the rest of...

Mind games

Heading out today into the cold. I have put together a training plan for my next race, but as always happens, as soon as I have a plan that tells me to run I do not want to. So I  am going to go for my run today and  pretend that I am not sticking to th...

Enjoying the Sunshine

Wow isn't it cold. Went out for a run at lunchtime yesterday, so the best bit of the day and it was real lovely. The first 10 minutes were freezing but after that it was great to be out in the sunshine. I actually went further than planned as it was s...

Good Run

Had a Great Run on Sunday at the Romsey 5 mile. PB by 6 minutes, wow. I have tried to keep my mileage up since the Great South Run and that seems to have paid off on this shorter run, felt good all the way round. It is an enjoyable course as it is made ...

Ticking Along

Just been ticking along with the running for the last week or too. At the moment I have a 6 mile run I am really enjoying so I keep on doing that one .I have a race this Sunday so am looking forward to that, I did it last year and it was very enjoyable....

Good Week

Had a good week last week, with the highest mileage this year so far. I have also entered a couple of races so things are looking up, although I am still struggling a bit with motivation, I am hoping having a race to aim for will help. Maybe it is the t...

New Year

Back into after Christmas now. I have got a plan for the first three months of the year, with races earmarked, just need to actually enter them.   My main aim for last year was to only enter races I enjoy and I think as I got three PB’s last year I will...

Colds and Goals

Well I still have a cold so not much running done over Christmas. Does anyone else get colds that seem to linger for weeks, never getting too bad but not clearing up. I normally do gentle runs when I have a cold, but maybe I should just not run. I am ne...

Run and chat

Well last week went ok and got a good longish run in on Friday. I had my phone with me and a friend called me while I was out and we had a chat, which helped pass the time well and also organised to meet for tea and cakes afterwards so all very pleasa...

Santa Sprint

The Santa Sprint on Sunday went really well. We were lucky with the weather only having a bit of rain during the run. After arriving we all put on our Santa suits. I found running in it easier than I had imagined. The course was really nice, round field...

Good Week so far

I have been really enjoying my running this week. Funny how sometimes it just seems so enjoyable. I have been over dressing each time I go out, so have been toasty warm, which I like. I have also been running after work which I think has made a nice cha...

Good Weekend

Had a good weekend and got in a 7 mile on Saturday morning as planned. Also got the Christmas Tree, made a Christmas Cake, made Mince Pies, bought more Christmas presents and some of the Christmas nibbles. Christmas is now in full swing here. I have e...

Friday Again

No run today, but am planning a 7 mile tomorrow morning. Should get out about 7.30 tomorrow so hope it is not too cold over night. The temperature here seems to have really dropped today.

Windy

The weather that is, not me. I changed my mind yesterday as the weather was so windy and raining, so I ended up going out for a walk instead so a run, so really no logic in that at all. Have done 4k at lunchtime today and I have also now formed a trai...

Festive Fun

Managed to get out for a 7.5K on Sunday morning. I have only recently discovered listening to the radio while running and now I really enjoy my Sunday morning run with Edith Bowman, it has turned in to a regular date. We have agreed that all the family ...

Well back to Friday again, this is one of my long days at work so no run today, but climbing tonight so looking forward to that. Starting to plan some outdoor climbing trips ready for next year so very exciting, I love getting away from the house and ki...

Another Quiet Week

Only a few small runs this week, the Christmas rush seems to be getting to me early this year, what with presents to buy, nativity costumes to cobble together and advent calendars to get. I did a lovely run on Sunday with my boy on his bike again, down ...

Stonehenge Stomp Again

I am still undecided on the Stonehenge Stomp. I was originally planning to run the 12 mile course by myself, but having never done it before was a bit nervous. I have since spoken to a couple of friends who have suggested walking it as a group. Now I c...

Stonehenge Stomp

I was thinking I may do the Stonehenge Stomp in January, I have never done anything similar and thought it looked like fun. If anyone else has done it before can you give me some pointers? I am worried I will lose my way and end up doing a longer route ...
