Beautiful Brathay!!!

Posted on: 20 May 2008

Had a great Brathay Marathon run on Sunday May 18th.
Not a marathon PB (but then this was only my second) .... but certainly  a Windermere PB anyway! 5 17m 31s -happy with that - it was very hilly and I hadn't trained for hills!.

Excellent organisation; fantastic scenery.  A lot of WOW factor on a beautiful day as ran round corners and saw Winderemere from various angles around the route.

I had been apprehensive and worried about losing my way (even took a map with me!)... but I needn't have been. Wonderfully organised. Marshalls well placed along this beautiful and scenic route. Plenty of refreshment stations (about every 3 miles) and the marshalls were really friendly and supportive. Didn't need my music on until the last hour, and that was for getting me through the last 5 miles when I was tiring.
Loved the Kendal mint cake en route ....and the SIS energy drink was much better than some of the sickly drinks I've had.
Nice medal at the end too.
All round - excellent marathon. Will train for hills next time and try for a faster time :o).......so looks like I'm on for next year    Thoroughly recommend this one.

What's next???   A wee jog  - 5.75 miles for the Blaydon Race on June 9th, then a 10k on June 16th - the Great Women's Run.  Hoping to beat last year's time for that (58m 54s).

So....marathons run for this year.   Fingers crossed for place in London 2009.

Happy blogging and running to all out there
