Why run it?
Running the Boston Marathon is a major bucket-list goal for runners because it is both the world's oldest annual marathon, first held in 1897, and it's part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors series. The unique point-to-point course consists of fast downhills and challenging inclines, passing through eight cities and towns, starting in Hopkinton and ending on Boylston Street in Boston. Over 500,000 spectators cheer you on through iconic landmarks like the Wellesley "Scream Tunnel" and Heartbreak Hill, with the race taking place on Patriots' Day in celebration Boston's resilience. For many Boston is also famous for the challenge of qualifying but you can run it for charity in 2027 and make the miles mean more.
