Just entered the race...

Well this was definitely a spur of the moment decision for me, but all I keep thinking is how I will feel if I complete this run. I'm excited yet nervous at the same time, it's all very well being able to run on a treadmill but I keep thinking will I be able to cope running this distance outside? So far i have no real training programme planned, I do kickboxing every tuesday and thursday night and I go to the gym as many times in the week that i can but I don't feel I have an aim at the minute or any way of making improvements, hmm I need to think about this tomorrow. xoxo

  • markinthepark 'You already keep fit I see and you even entered the marathon ballot which means you have reasonable confidence in your ability. The London 10,000 will be comfortably within your reach. If you do a bit of running outside, gradually increase your distance and simply enjoy your progress you will achieve this easily. In fact, I don't even think this will be your first 10k, you will have entered another one before then I reckon! Good luck. ' added 21st Oct 2009

  • 01lukane 'Thank you, that sounds like sensible advice Ill take that on board and this will infact be my first one that I have entered, I have ran this distance before but on my own accord, if that makes sense? When entering the marathon I really would have been throwing myself in the deep end if I had been accepted. ' added 21st Oct 2009

  • markinthepark 'What I mean is that you will be so keen that you will be tempted to do a 10k before May I think. There are so many to choose from (depending on where you live). Also depending on where you live there are lots of free 5k runs to try out when you are confident enough.. see parkrun.com Will be interesting to hear about your progress. Another tip is to start running in minutes rather than miles, progress in small steps like 5 mins, 10 mins and only increase it when you feel comfortable.' added 21st Oct 2009
