Overview

Hi,

I've decided to start a blog in an attempt to keep myself honest.  I turn 45 three days before the Cleveland Marathon in May.  That means a 3:30 qualifies me for Boston.  I have run Cleveland three previous times, finishing in 3:58, 3:39, and 3:48.  I am a big guy, 6'4", 220lbs.  I am a retired Army Officer who is technically "disabled" with bad ankles (according to the Vets Administration docs).

My training for previous marathons has been spotty - a big reason:  I have seven kids, my wife works 60 hrs/week, and I work between 50 and 70 hrs/week.  To help, my wife and I bought ourselves a nice elliptical trainer that is top of the line, can stand up to a big guy like me (unlike our old treadmill, may it rest in peace).

Right now, I am doing an hour every two days on the elliptical (at between 80-90 RPMs, covering 5.5 "elliptical miles".)

I am wondering if anyone has ever used that Marus Bakken 100 Day Marathon training program.  In the past, I've used Hal Higdon's beginner or intermediate programs, but like I said, I have been spotty in my training.

If anyone wants to join me in this blogging thing, either to "keep yourself honest" or just keep tabs on me (for those agorophobic runners who want an online running partner because dealing with real people requires too much effort) then please comment or just check in and read what I have to say once in a while.

Good luck to all readers and we'll see you up on the Lake in May!
