Five, Ten, Five, and 21 tomorrow!

It’s been a pretty good week and I have been amazed at the difference a massage has made to my poor tired muscles etc. Couldn’t shift a tight calf muscle which seemed to surface every time I got to around 4 miles and would stay with me until the end of the run, but now post massage, the tightness has disappeared - whoopee! Did my runs before work this week and fortunately the rain held off for the most part and my times were okay for me – 45mins for the 2 x 5 and 1.30hr for the 10. I really admire the people with faster times as I know the effort that must have gone into that – have to admit that I would rather be tucked up in the warm with a glass of wine and a book than out there improving my speed, although maybe that is because I don’t want to fail and if you don’t try then you can’t fail! However, doing extremely well at trying to ignore the housework at the moment and am getting very good at convincing myself that life is too short to be dusting, hovering, washing and ironing when I could be reading, shopping, sleeping or . . . running! No-one was ever heard to say on their deathbed “wish I had done more ironing” now were they? Okay, well I’ll let you know how my 21 miler goes, tomorrow or Monday depending on the weather and that will be one run that I will def be glad to get over and done with. My husband has said that he will cycle alongside me to keep me company which sounds a good idea but not sure how it will work out. Anyway, off to ignore some more housework and will report back after my next run!

Firefly123 'If I could run 10 miles in that time, I'd consider myself very speedy. I don't think you need to worry at all. Good luck with the 21 miler. My friend cycled with me on a couple of my longer runs (around Richmond Park)and I really appreciated the company. ' added 3rd Apr 2010

Suziewee 'Ha Ha, my housework is being thoroughly ignored too - life is too short!! Those are really speedy times. Hope the 21 miles goes well. I am going to do my long one tomorrow but it will be on my own as I need my husband to look after the children! Hope it goes well, then its taper time!' added 3rd Apr 2010

crooxi 'I have a magnet on my fridge: 'A clean house is a sign of a wasted life' - yes, I'll subscribe to that philosophy! Some speedy running there. Good luck with the 21.' added 4th Apr 2010
