It's going well
Mar172010noon
Haven't posted for awhile so thought that I needed to add an update. Training going well and apart from missing a few cross training days (does being stroppy whilst cleaning the house count as cross training(?) am managing to stick to Hal Higdon's Novice Marathon Training plan. Drag myself out of bed around six each morning to do my weekly runs (soooh much easier when the sun shines and my sister hasn't persuaded me to have that 3rd glass of wine the previous evening)! Managed 16 miles on Sunday 7th March in lovely sunshine listening to the Beach Boys and Magic Radio on new Ipod Nano which is inscribed with “Never Give In, Never Surrender” (and will mean more to those who have ever watched Galaxy Quest). Had a good 12 mile run last Sunday (1hr 52) and also ran well for my 9 miles before work today (1hr 20). Scheduled to do 18 miles this weekend which is something that I’m not totally looking forward to so think I need to find something to make it fun (fun and running 18 miles – no I don’t think so)! Maybe I’ll try Hal’s strategy to get through my run and smile at people that I pass to see how many will smile back! Hmm, only problem there is that I don’t usually pass many people and if I do it usually seems to be from behind when they are taking up the whole of the pavement and I am trying to overtake them, at which point I do not feel like smiling (no honestly, I am not really grumpy J). Brilliant thing about this training is no worries about how much you eat and drink as my sister has introduced me to this fab old fashioned coffee shop in Tunbridge Wells called The Nutmeg who do the most fantastic Welsh Rarebit, cakes and sandwiches etc., on which I am now absolutely hooked - thanks Jayn! J Unfortunately that now means that I will never be able to stop running! Oh well, 5 miles tomorrow and then a day of rest.
