Hastings Marathon

Well finally after loads of ups and downs I have taken part and finished a Marathon after having Amelia!
Beachy Head didn’t happen because I caught some nasty sickness bug (probably from Amelia) the day before Beachy Head Marathon. At the time I was so disappointed that the only way console myself was to enter another race. So when I should off been standing on the starting line of Beachy Head I was at home entering the Hastings Marathon. Training since as not been as good because I went back to work so I was learning the working mummy juggling act while trying to keep the marathon training going for a few more weeks, not ideal by hey got there..
Hasting Marathon was great, I love to run on the downs so the amount of road running wasn’t really my ideal but the organisation, marshalling and support was totally amazing, just wish it wasn’t a one off race, as I would love to do it again. Did the first ½ in 2.10 so really thought I could finish close to 5 hours but the cold got my legs and blisters got my toes so ended up finishing at just over 5 ½ bit disappointing in a way but as they say the a marathon doesn’t start until 20miles! And I am still nearly 2 stone heaver than before Amelia, so that must make quite a difference over 26miles…
So 1st postnatal marathon done I need to gear up for the next one… So my aims for 2009 is to finish a marathon in less than 5hours, need to loose the baby flab, keep going to boxercise and run faster and longer…

Hola 'Well done for completing a marathon so soon after having a baby. I'm training for my first post-baby marathon and my youngest is 6 (that's years by the way)!! You're doing well - I reckon it takes a good year to be back to same size, shape as before. ' added 16th Dec 2008
