Starting to get going again

Jul0920081:10 p.m.

Well starting to get going again, I have found a class for Boxercise and Aeroextreme both are really fast, jump up and down loads and sweat even more classes - ie the type I like and I can take baby who is in her pram watching they are during her sleep time so perfect timing too...

Done a few runs and I have done a Marathon training schedule, which is a weekly schedule of 1 long run, 2 short runs  2 classes, 1 swim and 1 day off - I find it helps even though I know I wont do all of it as long as I do 75% plus all the long runs I should be ok.. I also seam to be walking miles with the pram, it is so much easier to walk places than to put the pram in the car and drive...

There are 107 days until Beachy Head so I must keep motivated...

  • SuperCaz 'What a healthy attitude! I love the idea of having a training plan that you only intend to stick to 75% of the time. My usual attitude is to schedule in too much and then get depressed when I can't achieve it all!' added 9th Jul 2008

  • SuperCaz 'Alexx, I can't remember where you live, but if you are around the South Coast then there is the Solent Half on 12th October. It's undulating with one or two nasty hills and has a 3 hour cut off time, but it is very scenic as it goes through the New Forest and down to Lepe. There is also the Gosport half on 16th November, which is flat so a good one for beginners, but it is two laps which puts some people off. The Stanstead Slog (Rowlands Castle) is on either the 14th or 21st September (can't remember the date off the top of my head). This one is off road and hilly, but again, very scenic and there is the shorter, and less hilly Slug (8 mile) distance if you want to do it with a friend who isn't quite up to doing a half. The Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 has a variety of distances and that is on 10th August (I think). That's off road too and I'm guessing that it is hilly as Salisbury isn't renowned for being flat. There is also the Clarendon in October, which is from Salisbury to Winchester (or the other way round - they change it periodically) and you can do the Half distance, Full distance or a Marathon relay. Again this is off road and hilly. I'm sure there are other half's around but as 13 miles is a struggle for me I haven't really looked into many races of that sort of distance.' added 10th Jul 2008
