Hiya, I'm Ally and I've just moved over from FLM 2009. I really enjoy running, but I do moan about it sometimes! I started running in 2003 to help me ...

Heat gone straight to my head!

May2420091:30 p.m.

Next week I'm running as part of a team for Real Radio in the Hairy Haggis Relay marathon, so today I arranged to meet with some of the other runners to go for a run. We met at Strathclyde Park, one of my favourites and we ran round the water and then a couple of us went off into the woods. The weather was great, sun was shining, it was lovely having the heat on my back and we did 7miles. I felt so good and motivated when I got home I thought I'd do some weights, earlier in the week I bought 'Muscle & Fitness hers' and saw a workout that I might like to try, it's called Beyond 300. I have a gym in my garage and as it was such a nice day I decided I'd take what I needed out into my back garden (my neighbours can't see me there) - oh my god, it was mental , ( has the heat addled my brain), and the workout went like this -

Wide Grip Pull up - 25

One arm clean and press - 25 each side

Box jump - 50

Lying leg raise with dumbells - 50

Romanian Deadlift - 50

Elevated push up - 50

Wide grip pull up - 25

My legs were shaking and my shoulders weren't at all pleased with me, I'm going to do this workout once a week for a month to see how it helps build my strength and will work it in with my other strength training sessions - well that's my aim, let's wait and see how my body feels over the next 2 days!! My other half who hadn't been out running decided to give this workout a try - he gave up - too tough.

I'm off for a shower now and then watch the game on the telly, not sure whether to watch Rangers or Celtic, and then I'm off to cinema with youngest to watch Night at the Museum 2.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

  • tinabee 'Sounds like a great running session - not so sure about all that weight training. Bet your arms of stiff tomorrow! I try to do some hand weights stuff every day - just to do something about the loose underarm bits - not pretty lol!' added 24th May 2009
