So did the 20 miles happen - not quite... [but that's okay...]

Apr06201010:55 p.m.

Following yesterday's hiccup I wanted to attempt 20 miles this evening after work to see what happened / build a little confidence etc...

To cut a long story short, in the end it wasn't quite 20 miles, it was just over 17 miles (28km exactly), so reasonably happy - not really surprised I didn't make the 20 miles given I should have been resting, not running, following yesterday...

I went further than the yesterday's distance so am feeling a bit more confident and positive (still not sure how I am going to manage the last 6 - 9 miles but hoping the adrenaline of the big day and the crowd will see me through)...

Going to have a few days resting / easy workouts, still in two minds whether this marks the beginning of my taper or whether to attempt one very last very long run at the weekend to try and get that 20 miles, but I'll decide closer to the time...

Apologies for yesterday's woe be me post - I appreciate my little hiccup pales into insignificant compared to some of the injuries, illnesses and other personal challenges faced by others - if you're one of these sincere best wishes...

Good luck to all for those last long runs and happy tapering...

  • Suziewee 'Well done, after your disappointment yesterday it must have taken some willpower to try again. And you've done 17 miles! A good idea to take it easy for a few days. I can't help you with the taper decision though as I've not done this before. I am sure you will make the right decision.' added 6th Apr 2010
