The Silverstone Result...

Apparently "conditions were ideal for the 13 mile race, both for runners and the many spectators who witnessed bouts of glorious sunshine between some clouds with temperatures at 7 degrees, a 24mph north westerly wind and 76% humidity" - for me, the wind was a little strong and a little chilly particularly for final stretches where it was essentially head-on!
I finished well within my 2 hour target at 1:51:48 - I knocked just over 12 minutes off my personal best which was 2:04:16 for the Coventry Half back in October - so the training seems to be paying off, hurrah! it makes all those early mornings seem more worthwhile...
Incidentally the winner of the sweepstake was Reuben Lambe who guessed at 110 minutes - yes a relation and no not a fix!
The result - the race not the sweepstake - seems to bode well for the marathon itself now in just under six weeks time. Hopefully I can improve on last year's 5:05:00 by some margin - I just must start finding time to get in those longer runs!

Suziewee 'Well hello there fellow NCT fundraiser! I too am part of Team NCT! Well done on a fabulous result at Silverstone - I was there and got a PB at 1:54:52 which was 8 mins better than my last half back in September. It feels great to get a race under the belt doesn't it. Good luck with the rest of the training and fundraising - its not long now! Say hi to Elaine (I am from the Vale of Evesham branch).' added 15th Mar 2010

Mrs_Old_Bird 'Excellent run & a great result! I am running Fleet Half next week, so will try my bestest for that one. I'd love to crack the 2 hour mark, but that always seems to elude me. Never mind, so long as I finish in one piece! Keep up the good work - may see you in 6 weeks!' added 15th Mar 2010
