You are feeling verrrrrrry tired....

In the words of Jack Bauer, "damn it!".
I thought this wasn't going to start happening until I was much older. But, alas, it happened to me last weekend. Twice in fact, once in the morning and once in the evening. I couldn't help it, it just 'happened' before I knew what was going on. My wife told me not to worry, and that it happens to lots of people, but I fear that this is just the beginning.
The first time was in the cinema. On Sunday morning, watching Planet 51, with the kids. 30 minutes in, and suddenly, I fall asleep. No warning, no gently build up. I'm away. I only came to when the woman next to me snored and made herself jump with a start.
Then, in the evening, watching another film, Volver (Spanish subtitled so probably asking for trouble really). This time, 10 minutes in and I drop off again. I am officially a geriatric! Is this the way of it for the next 5 months? I'm going to just nod off at random intervals during the day? Meetings at work are gonna get very tough.
Its all because I stepped up training last week - over 7 hours worth, and found myself physically drained. On Monday I gave myself a rest day as I just couldn't lift my legs out of bed to go swimming. Even buttering my toast was an effort.
And I've just had another tough week, with 2 big bike rides to do this weekend which possibly means another Sunday evening of trying to stay awake on the sofa and convince my wife that she does still have a husband. Its all very well getting fitter than I've ever been before, but I'm not sure I'm going to be awake enough to appreicate it.

Simon_Doyle 'Andy, you are not alone. My weekend morning long run is usually followed by an afternoon siesta. This has never happened to me before until I started training in earnest. I guess I'm as geriatric as you. Keep up the good work.' added 19th Feb 2010
